Castello D'albola

Castello di Ama

Vigna l'Apparita Toscana IGT Merlot 2009

Wow. Amazing gusto from a Merlot. Frank over two days. Tons of tannin and structure- next one will be opened in 5 years. Lovely notes of dark fruit and a hint of toasted tobacco A touch dry on the palate - but really enjoyable. — 9 days ago

The dry mouthfeel was disappointing - thinking it will resolve in 5 years or more.

WOTN in my book.

Drinking really well on release, most guessed 6-8yrs of age. Almonds, vanilla, cream, pears, and lemon curd throughout. Deep wine. Very complex.

Basadone Verduno Pelaverga 2022

This is excellent red that punches well above its weight. One note, but very enjoyable. Full bodied, sour cherries, with a satisfying tangy finish. Wonderful chilled. — 2 months ago

Castello di Volpaia

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2007

Wowowowowow! Aged beautifully. Slightly muted nose-hint of bacon grease and celery. On the palate firm tannins, bresola, pomegranate and amaro cherries. Absolutely lovely — a month ago

Cantine del Castello Conti

Boca Nebbiolo Blend 2015

Old-school Italian wine that is perfect for pizza. Somewhat thin and alcoholic but typical of wines served in Italian restaurants in Brooklyn when I was small. Flavorful and a perfect match to the marinara sauce of New York Patsy’s Pizzeria or Joe & Pat’s. — a month ago

Castello di Albola

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2021

Medium Ruby red color with aromas of berry fruit and earthy spice, organically grown fruit. On the palate flavors of cherry and plum with tobacco, floral and earthy flowery notes. Full-bodied, well balanced drying tannins on a smooth medium+ finish. Grab some Italian food and enjoy the great value wine. Sustainable. — 2 months ago
