Bonneau Du Martray

Laurent Martray

La Folie Brouilly Gamay 2016

Dinner with a friend, brief notes this evening.

OMG Brouilly, you are so GREAT! Brambly raspberry, wet soil, ripe black cherry, very deep on the palate, nice!

48 Hour Update:
Nose has muddy raspberry, black cherry mash, faint baking spice, hardwood charcoal and (minor) menthol/mint notes.
Palate has blackberry, dehydrated cherry, young black currant with its earthy sweetness, touch of sweet acidity on the medium finish. Yum.

There’s only in Beaujolais you can drink those wine paradoxically light and intense (to me)

Domaine Leflaive

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1992

Tasted blind. Medium gold and like motor oil in the glass. Notes of lemon, lime blossoms, white stone and a little vanilla. Very glycerol in the mouth. Great balance of acidity against the fatness of the fruit. Long finish. I guessed 90 Bonneau du Martray CC. — 4 years ago

Reserve Catherine Bonneau Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

Great Chardonnay! A must stop on girl's weekend. Unfortunately they didn't make Chardonnay this year. — 4 years ago

Rotem & Mounir Saouma

Omnia Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Extremely distinctive CDP. Very finessed and elegant. Reminds me of Henri Bonneau. Still needs some time though so if drinking now decanting would be strongly recommended. — 3 years ago

Château Rayas

Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 2006

Wedged in between the monumental 2005 and 2007 this wine is more delicate but again a true Rayas. Perfect balance, strong kirsch tones and this endless perfume which comes with a sexy Rayas. Reynaud and Bonneau two opposite wines, both great, for me forget all the rest in red chateauneuf. What a joy and privilege to be allowed to drink this. — 4 years ago

Gilbert, could not agree with you more on your feelings for Rayas

Verget

Le Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1992

Tasted blind. Nice deep yellow gold color. The nose immediately says this is a great older white burg. Notes of vanilla, stones, lemon creme, pear, marzipan and a little spice. Gobs of fruit in the mouth matched against a very present but softer acidity spine. Coats the mouth. Silky. I guessed 86 Bonneau du Martray CC. — 4 years ago

Domaine de Pignan

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2000

100% Grenache. Sweet red cherry fruit, garrigue and Provençal herbs. Second best to the ‘88 Bonneau Beurrier for me in this tasting. — 3 years ago

Réserve des Célestins Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 1998

Wow. Stunning wine. Definitely a hefty one where the alcohol is a touch more present than I’d like. But aromas are complex and leap from the glass. A bit of a gasoline intensity quality. Mouth filling with excellent fruit, acid, and still enough tannic structure to keep things together. Long finish. Very nice. — 4 years ago

Cuvée Marie Beurrier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2005

Love this style and Chateauneuf du Pape in general. Animale nose (but no Brett!). Also Raspberries Blackberries Earth and Thyme. Sweet red berries on palate with grainy tannins and a touch of bitumen. First introduced to the Wines of Henri Bonneau a few years ago in CDP in a restaurant where I was lucky enough to have had a “Celestines “ which was a WOW Wine for me. Henri passed away last year but his Wines live on Current vintages made by his son. — 5 years ago
