Perle Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne Chardonnay

Low production. Exceedingly high quality. Produced with lower pressure but results in much, much joy. A light golden robe with not many bubbles due to the low pressure. Very creamy however. In that good way. Quite mineral on the nose with an abundance of floral scents. Croissants and orange peel with a schmear of honey. Those citrus aromas really start to take over after time in the glass.

Pure Grand Cru Chardonnay from Cramant in the Côte des Blancs. Consisting of 35/65 of the 2014 and 2015 vintages and disgorged in 2020 with an Extra Brut dosage of 3 g/l. This is one of those non vintage bottles that makes you reconsider not aging them. It’s so clear that this will continue to grow and blossom and be even more stunning a few years down the road.

Subtle and soft with high acid. Saline precision and tension for days. So generous on the palate even at this youthful point in its journey. Fresh citrus fruits tickle the tongue while herbs hold your attention. Long finish with a bite of spice. Will be excellent if you have patience and hold. Or you could be like me and drink now.

Les Fournaux Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

I’m guessing this needs more time. Not super expressive right now. Easy enough to drink. I’ll wait a few years for the next bottle of 4. — 10 days ago

I bought quite a bit from this producer. None of the bottles were impressive. So I keep slowly ‘getting rid off them’ - giving them more time made no difference - vintages 10-12. I do not buy any.

Les Talmettes Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2008

Talmettes is on a limestone parcel and therefore gives very mineral wines, almost like white ones.
This is in indeed very stony and mineral, but has flesh and lots of red fruit together with dollops of rose fanée and spices. Medium bodied, very complex and elegant, just about ready but no rush. A fine bottle very much to our taste.

Édition Limitée Grossi Laüe Alsace Pinot Noir 2012

Cherries and cranberries. Soft spice, dry flowers, twigs, some distant echoos of barnyard funk. Light- to medium-bodied, crunchy, velvety and feminine.
Quite Nice.

Les Valoziéres Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Bright red fruit on the nose that pairs up well with touches of freshly tilled earth and pink flowers. Dark fruit, herbs, earth, nuts, mushroom and baking spices adorn a very beautifully complex pallet. A bit of a darker garnet color. Robust with some slightly chewy tannins. Outstanding! — a day ago
