#1934 was one of the three best vintages of that decade in #Germany, along with 1937 & 1938.
The #Staatsweingut #Rheingaus produced in this era were excellent; especially those from the steep, #slate soil sites of the majestic Rüdesheimer Berg.
This is a perfectly balanced wine when it comes to sweetness versus acidity and in no way a big, fat, syrupy overstated example of late-picked #Riesling, but rather restrained by comparison...a wine one can easily drink more than one glass of--GRANDIOS!!! #klostereberbach #tba — 10 years ago
1971s are utterly perfect #wines that will continue to age beyond our wildest dreams--all you need is a great producer like #JBSchäfer, cold, damp storage and, eventually, a cork screw--VOILÁ! #Pittermännchen #Silvaner #TBA #Nahe — 10 years ago
Just one of the reasons to love #german #wine #tba #trockenbeerenauslese — 10 years ago
When it comes to sweet white #wines that can age indefinitely, absolutely nothing tops #German Riesling and an old #TBA in perfect condition from a half bottle is even more unbelievable--1976 Schloss Eltz Rauenthaler Baiken was the epitome of great late-harvest #Riesling--pure art in a bottle--so fresh, concentrated yet perfectly balanced we could not believe it was a wine of nearly 40 years from a half bottle--WOW!!! — 10 years ago
The vintage 1971 in Germany speaks for itself--a true legend and amongst the very finest of the 20th century! Regardless of grape varietal, magical wines of perfect balance were produced throughout the major regions and they are still incredibly vibrant at nearly 44 years of age. This stellar #Sylvaner #TBA from perhaps #Würzburg's top site, Stein, was mind-boggling--rich, very concentrated and intense with a chocolate/caramel impression and a seemingly endless finish that resonated well after one swallowed it. Another astoundingly youthful bottle from the legendary #LudwigBalz collection--and half a bottle to boot! — 10 years ago

Very interesting winery relatively near Vienna bordering on Hungary. It’s not everyday you taste a #welschriesling #tba #trockenbeerenauslese made in underground cellars — 4 years ago
