The John Sebastiano vineyard is a newer plot located on the eastern side of the Santa Rita Hills AVA. Owned by Sebastiano Sterpa and John Wagner, the vineyard specializes in Clone 115 and Swan varietals to produce big juicy Pinot Noir. This wine embodies the current move in the Pinot world of producing Pinot Noir that's bigger, juicier, and more alcoholic than your average Pinot. Either you love this style or you're indifferent - I don't mind tasting the experiment from time to time. ~$48 | #foxen #pinotnoir #santaritahills
On the eyes: Deep clear garnet rimming out to reddish pink, bright, med stain, med tears. No gas/floc.
On the nose: Braised red cabbage, stewed plums and black cherries, a hint of vanilla and perfume. Med+ Alcohol.
On the tongue: Med+ acid, med tannin, med+ alcohol, med body, round and juicy mouthfeel. Super ripe cherry, plum and blueberry. Violet, a hint of vanilla and pepper. Long finish. Drinks like a mini-Syrah. — 10 years ago
Super impressive for new world. Great acidity, great white pepper. Broadened out on the back palate and showed its home. #grünerveltliner #tatomer #santaritahills — 11 years ago
Soft tannins, nose has hint of cola mixed with flowers, fruity but not hedonistic or a fruit bomb, abv 13%, drinking well now but would be even better in a year or two. Food friendly, but drinkable on own. #wine #pinotnoir #pinot #sandhi #sandhiwines #santabarbara #santaritahills — 11 years ago

Med intensity and complexity on a restrained nose. Fresh orchard fruit and flowers. The palate is where this wine really shows off. Great complexity mixed with depth, power, and restraint. Sweet orchard fruit, Meyer lemon, hazelnut, and flowers. Great balance and length. #wenzlauvienyards #santabarbara #santaritahills #chardonnay #california #usa #ctbucklinwine — 9 years ago
The 2012 has a aromatic aroma that started off with lots of ripe fruits, rich cherries and spices were prevalent. The aromas extend into your mouth with dark cherries, pepper and spices and something that reminded me of cardamom. The tannins and acids are well balanced enhancing its smooth long finish. This is not a bland Pinot. #sanford #pinotnoir #santaritahills #centralcoast — 11 years ago
Delicious @domainedelacote 2012 Bloom's Field Pinot Noir #SantaRitaHills. Huckleberry, sarsaparilla. — 12 years ago
Concentrated raspberry and red plum aromas with glints and hints of red currant, cranberry and ripe red cherry. Tarragon strong with allspice afters. Very juicy center of this tootsie pop exhibits a slightly less sweet cherry, a touch of black pepper, cedar and cinnamon framing dense plum and both dried and ripe raspberry, subdued blackberry and a racy finish of cola and roobios pumping the brakes repeatedly on this well engineered rocket.

Mushroom, forest-farm, strawberry, cherry, brown spice, very pretty mouthfeel #napawine #carneros producer #santaritahills fruit #deedubcellar — 9 years ago
The black and red fruit (cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and huckleberries) is dense and almost has a penny candy sour quality to it. Fairly well balanced with secondary nuances and a decent length. #sandhi #santaritahills #pinotnoir #california #ctbucklinwine — 10 years ago
#smokey #meaty #floral #pinot that's right all of that with luscious soft tannins and great length. The perfect wine for smoked meats or pastrami or a smoked salmon. Really good #sbcwine #santaritahills #santabarbara #santabarbarapinot — 11 years ago

This is drinking really nicely now- highly recommend- sometimes you have to wait for these older vintages to shine- this one is light &fruity, A nose that will challenge not only your memory but your palate. Notes of strawberry, cherries, a hint of vanilla. It's mouth feel is perhaps the most even ever felt on this tongue. Perhaps amongst one of their best vintages of from the" legend-(wait for it) dairy" terriors in the Santa Rita lowlands that Grey and Frank have offered. Although this label continues to amaze year after year with their simplicity, consistency and value.
One would expect to lay much more for this bottle, which makes it a very good choice. #HitchingPostWines #Sideways #PunotNoir #SantaRitaHills — 2 years ago
