this ‘99 #Harlan is on the prowl, waiting...waiting...waiting in the shadows to sink its rich, currant-coffee-cedar-mineral essence into the sizzling steak 🥩 - #WineWednesday 🍷#Napa 🐅 — 6 years ago
a big steak calls for a big wine, here a pit-fire-grilled ribeye 🥩 matched with a ripe, creamy, plummy, mineral-tinged #Goldeneye Winery #Pinot from #Mendocino's #AndersonValley Split Rail Vyd. The minerally-edged Pinot harmonized beautifully with the mineral funk of the boeuf. 🍷🎯

1989 #Gaja Barolo "Sperss," che bello! - as pleasurable as a velvety pillow 🛏, its soft tannins caressing every care from your tired bones. Gorgeous plummy, blackcurranty fruit mingles with notes of licorice and earth, and the finish keeps stroking the palate in all the right ways. "Sperss" is a Piedmontese dialectal term that translates to "nostalgia," but for us it might as well mean "get me a plate of buttery tajarin with white truffles" . Speaking of #truffles 🥔, the holy season is starting in the holy land of Piedmont 🏞 - somebody get Alitalia ✈️ on the line! — 6 years ago
one of life's great sensations💫: enjoying New York's most succulent roast %chicken (at #Barbuto, of course) while discovering an immensely likable and affordable white wine: the interminably named '17 #Caravaglio Malvasia Bianco Secco Salina IGP, from the Aeolian island of Salina near Sicily in southern Italy. Medium to full weight, with an exotically floral and briny nose, and clean, rich, salty-dry flavors that evoke flowers and pears. Add in hyper-flavorful, charmingly craggy, thankfully mountainous plate of pecorino and rosemary potatoes.

as good as it gets: 1964 Leroy Mazis-Chambertin, a fine-boned beauty 💫, still bright, still fresh, with a gorgeously sweet nose of soy sauce and autumn leaves and other lovely indescribables. With silk to spare. You get lost in it. With #LaMercerie’s crispy, juicy, mustard-tinged chicken. #Burgundy #wine #Chambertin #MaisonLeroy #PinotNoir — 6 years ago
do you like your wine canned? you would if you taste the bright, grassy 🌿, kiwi-and-passionfruit goodness of this 500ml can of #Margerum 'Sybarite' #SauvignonBlanc. Finely made juice in a glugworthy, “tall boy” container. #WineWednesday — 6 years ago
if a wine could be described as "happy” 😃, it would be Grignolino, a lesser-known grape from #Piedmont, #Italy, that makes wine of great refreshment and affordability. This '14 Braida di Giacomo Bologna “Limonte” spreads the joy in typical #Grignolino fashion, light in body with hints of strawberry and licorice, and ample tanginess to keep you cool 😎 in these warm, waning days of #summer. ☀️ — 6 years ago
