The winemaker is a really nice lady and all of her wines are great. Especially her Pinot and her Tempranillo. She's in the #Lompoc Wine Ghetto
It clearly has some charred oak which is what's giving the smokey qualities, then there's the 14.8% Alc. Which gives it the soft tannins and ripe cherries. It amazingly maintains its acidity and is really well balanced. Best in show at the California state fair
