Broken sticks, dried black currant, woody mushroom showing tiny flecks of dried blueberry, but also a rich ripe blue streak in deep background, elevates from forest floor to treetop mulberry. Tobacco sweetness and mint scintillate with mocha softly blanketing. Cocoa and cedar emerge first on the palate; with cherry and currant in tow, tart raspberry, eucalyptus and leather. Just enough pepper to keep it firmly grounded.

Vintage 2009 - Just opening itself after a difficult puberty phase. Smell with a lot of earthiness, mocca and leather. Still a bit stubborn and that’s what I like about #SaintEstephe. True to type. Partnered it with guinea fowl on stewed mixed vegetables. #bordeaux — 7 years ago
Tons to unwind here. Black and green olives, clay and uncooked peat, multi grain bread, pecan, black sesame, mushroom fricassee, grilled filet with beurre blanc and jus. Sage, mint, and tarragon. All cohesively woven together; immaculate. That’s just the nose. Graphite and oak pencil the initial signature, which delineates the oeuvre. The cherry life cycle, from underripe to dried expressed in black and red; still-grainy tannins supporting. Raspberry tart, briary berrries. Rooibos tea, cinnamon and clove. Impeccable.

Vintage 2012 / very classic true to type #saintestephe with earthy and mineral tones in smell, as well as red summerfruit and cedar. Gave it an hour in the decanter and afterwards the taste is smooth, juicy and very quaffable. Rich wine with noble characteristics. #bordeaux Paired it with entrecôte and later with gruyère cheese. — 6 years ago
Vintage 2014. Civilized weekday wine. Cedar, a bit stubborn smell. Earthy taste. Shy red fruit. This reconciles me with life, the positive effect of a good glass of wine. #saintestephe #bordeaux Partnered with a mushrooms truffle rissotto. — 6 years ago
Herbaceous. Black cherry meets trumpet mushrooms, dried violets and roses. Silky warm plum compote. On the palate, a well-knit red and black cherry see cranberry compote instead; red currant, dried raspberry and blackberry. Lovely exhibit of dried flowers, touches of iron and graphite sparkle on the long long tail.

Medium(+) intensity aromas of black fruit (plum, cherry and prune) with secondary aromas of oak (cedar, smoke and dark chocolate) and just beginning to show some tertiary aromas and flavors of tobacco leaf and prunes. The wine has medium(+) acidity, medium(+) fine grained textural tannins and medium(+) body. The finish is medium (+) and while slightly grippy, those tannins are ripe and it’s that structure which will give it the ability to age in bottle for another 5/7 years. There is enough fruit and defined aromas and flavors to balance the acidity and the tannins which want to be the protagonista of this wine. A solid Claret. #saintestephe #bordeaux #grandvindebordeaux #cabernet #cabernetsauvignon #merlot and just 5% #petitverdot — 4 years ago
Vintage 2010 / Fine complexity is developing, with a multi-layered smell. Vannilla, brushwood and stable. A taste with chocolate and mocca. And cherries. Years and years ahead but certainly a great joy to drink after aeration. #meyney #saintestephe — 6 years ago
