Champs Royaux Chablis Chardonnay 2019

Ron R
9.3

@Dawn E. Nailed the notes on this wine/vintage. Impressed, girlfriend. But we’ll take a hard right turn on the rating. We were really impressed with how it presented. Less limestone, more citrusy and moderately sweet. In some ways, similar to the Edge Hill.

Can't go wrong with 2019 Burgundy, pick a color both were great.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Never disappoints. Deep nose: liqueur cherry & plum. But "deeper": caramel brownie - caramel, dark chocolate & gingerbread note. — 2 months ago

Heritage Vines Sonoma County Zinfandel 2017

2017. Picked up a couple of Zinfandel for a pasta and meatballs lunch. This wine was drinking really well. I think the large percentage of Petite Sirah kept it from being overblown and made it more interesting. — 13 days ago

On the nose, lemons and wet rocks. In the mouth high acid, lemon oil. Lots of minerality, long finish. Great QPR, typical Chablis. — a month ago

Star anise and thyme as standout descriptors. Open but still long life ahead.

Edit day two: fleshed out considerably. Just a really solid, seamless steely chablis

This Chablis is great value and might even be a bit young. And fortunately holds time well. I have the 2008 in 1.5L . Magic still. Love this juice from Fevre. And the Les Clos is off the chain great. And Bougros also great.

Thanks for the insights Gary, actually this is my first bottle of Fevre. Having multiple vintages of recent Clos, Bourgeos, etc. I read here on Delectable recently that these wines could be opened relatively young. So this first sample bottle confirmed the quality and confirmed that there is also absolutely no hurry in opening these. I'll probably keep buying these giving the price points compared to Raveneau etc.

Agreed. The whole lineup of Fevre Chablis Grand Cru represent a great price/value relationship compared to Raveneau and Davissat., etal.

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2011

Light bright and grippy with quite high acid. A bit unlovely considering the vineyard — a month ago
