I love me some grand cru Alsace Riesling and this measures up! Contemplative. Long finish. 2017
Beautiful color, nose of apricot, honeysuckle, straw, and loads of acidity. Imagine if you will a glass of lemonade on a hot summer day and it makes you want to just keep drinking it, this does that.

Has completely balanced aromas of leather, tar, resin and dries rose and the body is totally integrated already. Many of the 2018’s are putting on weights very early. — 4 years ago

Domaine du Clos des Fées (Hervé Bizeul)

Le Clos des Fées Grenache Blend 2007

Very special indeed. Balanced aromas, subtle yet rich… layers of flavors in fact. This is a GSM+ Carignan, in equal measures. — 5 years ago

Le Cigare Volant Red Rhone Blend 2018

2018 vintage which is important as profile and price point are shifting. As a $20 retail Rhone blend this is a serious deal for a stellar wine. Only time can reveal how it measures up against it's elder siblings carrying twice or more the price. For now, the zippy Cinsault-driven character is lovely. — 6 years ago

Bone Ash Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Same good friend im always on about opened this up for us last night, very responsible social distanced getting drunk and looking at each other. I dont know if california cabs get better than this. I honestly don't because I don't have this kind of wine budget. But its an excellent wine. From what I remember...Jeez the bottle weights like 5 pounds, its a silky beautiful, fragrant cab tastes like rose pettles, earth, loom, berries, awesome midrange turn up the dial to 11 and dissapears. And bone ash is a badass name for a middle school white zombie cover band...does anyone ever read my reviews? I think I just type this for myself to laugh at years later. — 6 years ago

Baracchi

O'Lillo Toscana IGT SuperTuscan Blend

An excellent Tuscan red. Equal measures of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Beautiful complement to red sauced pasta dishes. Medium bodied and a pleasantly lingering finish. Soft tannins and pleasant fruit. Quite nice. — 7 years ago

Estate Arrowhead Slope Chardonnay 2015

Bottle Number 7025 Arrowhead Slope Sonoma County, “V. At The Center Of It All.” Used 2 2/3 cups of this bottle for making my broth(chicken stock, saffron & wine) for my broth for my Paella of the Land. Just enough left over a nice refreshing glass for the Chef. Light with great measures of fruit. My rule is to use a wine in your cooking that you would drink again and again, and this wine fits the bill. — 8 years ago

Astrolabe Wines

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

The name Astrolabe is an ancient instrument of navigation that measures the altitude of the stars. Pale lemon color with citrus notes and grassy herbal scents. On the palate peach, lemon citrus and melon flavors with vivid acidity. Medium+ finish ending with bright mineral character. Nice! — 10 months ago

Bodegas Roda

Reserva Roda Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2002

Singing. Nose of the deepest red cherries, iron ore, bay leaves, pink peppercorn, raisins, leather and the smell of the desert. Very suave palate— weightless yet substantial, sweet and tart in the right measures, with a resonant finish. Perfect marriage between modern and traditional rioja, perfect age on the bottle. — 6 years ago

Spring Mountain District Cabernet Franc 2013

I am a lover of Cab Franc, so critical on what I am drinking. This find really measures up as one of the better offerings. Bold black cherry, with dense dark chocolate and Caramel notes. — 6 years ago

Corse Red Blend 2015

8.9

Not sure if this measures up to all the amazing wine I drank when I was in Corsica, but it’s pretty good. On the nose, dried flowers, red fruit and brambles. In the mouth, bright and floral, earthy with some tannins. Moderate length. — 7 years ago

Cep by Cep Les Clos de L'Arche Anjou Rouge Cabernet Franc 2017

A handful of forest berries recall a late summer hike in the northwoods. I can’t decide if its earthiness is dusty seasonal road or cold gray river stone. Perhaps equal measures of both. Then there are those hints of alpine milk chocolate and crispy hay. I like it best as a single ingredient cocktail. — 8 years ago

Val di Suga (Angelini)

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

Black and red cherry fruit aromas, dried cran and raisin, display a light tangerine, sage, aloe and pepper dust. Sweet tobacco, and spot on measures of cedar and smoke. Dried cherry, pointedly tart raspberry, black cherry, cocoa, coffee, and tarragon round out the palate. Juicy in places; lean on the pyrotechnics. Balanced in a word.

The Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky

Just sending a shout out to my wine folks to stay strong in these testing times. I’m on the whisky sours...
(Makes two)
2 measures whisky (Woodfords is great for this, but Yamazaki is what I had in)
1 measure lime juice
1/2 measure sugar syrup (or more to taste)
1/4 measure Nardini Acqua Di Cedro
Dash bitters

Shake with plenty ice until you can’t feel your hands. Serve over big ice cubes.

Good luck out there ❤️

Enjoyed this the other night albeit several bottles in, showed nice red fruits and light tannins. Please note the notes I am sure are off since like I said there were many bottles of various wine enjoyed that night. This one I must say held its own against some heavy weights that night. I will revisit with better notes I am sure when I can give this nice bottle a little more due diligence. — 7 years ago
