Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds.
I’ve had the AV ‘07 a few times over the last year and notes are consistent. Classic American oak notes of dill and coconut, with tobacco leaves and dusty blackberries. Balanced. Palate showed cocoa dusted dates, fig, and blackberries. I called this Cali cab with American oak. Thanks @Benjamin Keator — 8 days ago
Very drinkable and very cheap Pinot. A lot better than a lot of other wines at this price. Very dry, subtle tannins, thin/watery mouthfeel and medium acidity. Notes of cranberry, slate, and a hint of peppercorn - $9 at my local wine shop — 10 days ago
2017 vintage Malbec, with chocolate cherries, medium tannins. Good with pasta. — 20 days ago
Deep Ruby with medium+ aromas of black fruits, spice and oak notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry and black cherry with vanilla, smoke and charred wood notes. Full-body, generous acidity, medium+ tannins on a lingering finish, very good ending with an oaky character. Tasting Sample. — 19 days ago
From our tasting at Ashes and Diamonds. This is nice. The addition of merlot gives it a nice plummy edge. Enjoyable to drink now. — a month ago
Dark fruit and full body. Bits of gamey aromas on the nose. Definitelly dark fruit flavors — 24 days ago
I like this a lot. Cross between rose and orange. — 13 days ago
