Intrinsic Pinot Noir 2017

Savoury palate of sour, tart, spicy cherry. Firm but fine tannin. Very autumnal and suits the season. — 5 days ago

Issan Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

5th and 6th bottles of the 2011 case drunk in the last week. Fruit has turned and now has overripe/raisin notes on nose but especially on palate. Still rich and complex, but it needs the freshness of youth to balance out the inherent body and ripeness of the fruit when first bottled. Drinks like a fully mature cab/shiraz. Spectacular in youth, but ages quickly. — 2 days ago

Moonambel Shiraz 2013

This is in a great place right now but will continue to develop for 10 + years. The integration of blue and black fruit with a wall of fine powdery tannin defines this wine. Rosemary, and floral notes mixed with the pure elegant fruit. Long, and serious. — 16 days ago

Regional Reserve Heathcote Shiraz 2014

This was pretty good for an everyday wine and it was interesting to see it with some age. Jammy blue fruits and classic Healthcote chalk/mineral notes. — 17 days ago

864 Charlie's Block Chardonnay 2011

Nothing to add to my previous notes. A well made Chardonnay from Chardonnay specialist, David Bicknell. Made in the leaner style. Travelling well at 10 years. — a day ago

Victoria Red Blend 2018

My bottle says “Red Wine, South Eastern Australia”, not “Victoria”. Requesting expert review is a joke as they sometimes don’t respond for months. I’m not going to take notes and keep track of them to fill out the’s just not that important to me, just annoying. Pleasant wine but a tad sweet for my liking. — 16 days ago

Serrat Pinot Noir 2016

From the Mornington Peninsula (although the fruit for this Pinot Noir came from the Yarra Valley ) - this is Tom Carson’s personal project when he’s not making wine for Yabby Lake - his main job. This had strawberry and other red fruits like cherry and a small whole bunch influence. Oak is dialled right back. A medium weight palate that is yet to show its full potential. First of 3 purchased and somewhat closed. Will leave having the 2nd for a couple of years. — 2 days ago

Yarra Valley Syrah 2019

Bright, light, transparent, only lightly extracted. Floral Cote Rotie-esque perfumes. Glimmering with red and purple berries on the palate, plus some subtle herbal notes. Joyful. Such a fresh rendition of syrah in the Souhaut mold. — 2 days ago
