Gnarly Dudes Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

I recently reviewed the 2016 Angels’ Share Shiraz, however the Gnarly Dudes packs a bigger punch. Deep and dark purple color with aromas of fresh blue/red fruits with spicy notes. The palate revealed rich ripe fruits, plum and blueberry with firm tannins and acidity to match. I noted some cacao, toasty oak, vanilla and black pepper on a lingering finish. If you open a bottle, give the wine a few minutes to let it approach it’s beauty. — 12 days ago

Angels' Share McLaren Vale Shiraz 2013

Dark purple in color with a short reddish/ brick rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, cooked plums, dried fruits, raisins, cedar, leather, light vanilla, tobacco, spice box, espresso, chocolates, spices, mocha, coke, graphite and peppercorn.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long lasting legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate, with blackberries, plums, sweet cherries, raisins, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cloves, cola, peppercorn and earth.

Long finish with round tannins and a touch of orange peel.

This 7 year old Australian Shiraz is drinking so nicely now. The alcohol is well integrated with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Rich and fruit forward. Chewy and enjoyable even by itself.

Wine Spectator 90 points.

Good right out of the bottle and shows more complexity after an hour of airtime.

A delicious wine with a teeth staining color. Loved smelling on it. Peaking now.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

Hands of Time Napa Valley Red Wine 2017

#MERLOTTHURSDAY

This Napa red blend is always enjoyable. Showing black fruits with wood, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, coffee and mocha.

Dry on the palate, big, bold and very fruity, with a teeth staining color.

A good pop and pour kind of wine, and gets better as it opens up (2 hours).

This 3 year old is showing mild complexity and a great mouthfeel. Still young and needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly and show more complexity.

A blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 17 months in French oak barrels.

14.8% alcohol by volume .

Wow! Perfect shiraz. Not over the top at all. Nice in fruit and enough tanins to make it a firm glass of wine. — 11 days ago

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

I love everything Cody and the team are doing at Purple Hands. This an earthy, balanced Pinot with loads of ripe berries and a whift of your grandfathers pipe tobacco. Clearly a shining star in the line up. — 4 days ago
