M. Chapoutier

Les Bécasses Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2010

2010 vintage. Courtesy of @Pinotman /// Andreas. Great fill. Nice cork. Opened with a Durand and decanted. Minimal sed. Tasted 45 minutes, 1.25 hours and 2 hours after open/decant. Initial gamey, smoky nose mostly dissipated and Chambord/dark plum rushed in to fill the vacuum. Medium-medium heavy body still. Surprising, this had not thinned out and was drinking mostly primary. Never been the biggest Chapoutier fan but will be keeping an eye out for this one in the May gray/grey market. Absolutely no rush to crush as this is aging at a (pre-Industrial Revolution) glacial pace. Thank you again @Pinotman /// Andreas!!! 4.17.26. — 3 months ago

Aged 13 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

One of the most fascinating single malts I’ve ever had. This is not for beginners. It’s oily and industrial in the best way, with notes of grain, honey and oak. I liked it a lot, but it felt incomplete, maybe a little one note. Certainly not an everyday drinker, but it was definitely educational. I’m looking forward to trying some of their alternative barrel offerings. EDIT: This grew on me like Kudzu, baby. I LOVE this whisky. The more I drank the more complex and interesting it became. Ottella

Lugana Trebbiano

Likely verdicchio instead of Trebbiano as mentioned in Godforsaken grapes. Bright, mineral, strawberries. “Yet what should become of the world? The industrial countries spreading like a blackness over all the world, horrible, in the end destructive. And the Garda was so lovely under the sky of sunshine, it was intolerable.” — 7 years ago

Concentrated, spicy and nutty. Obviously not industrial product. The kind of wine you wish all Trentino PG would be. #pinotgrigio #dolomiti #trentinoaltoadige — 8 years ago

Cielo Wineyards

Woodstock Collection Princess Proprietary Blend

Metallic scents, paint, hair color and licorice, industrial aromas. I almost feel like I'm in a salon. No wonder it's called Princess. Eucalyptus and licorice dominate the palate with a peppery, softly astringent, yet abrupt finish. Lay down a few years for further process. Rosey ruby raspberry color, just like i prefer my mani-pedi. Now if only I could find my stylist... Metallic-AHH? — 8 years ago

Domaine de Chevalier

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Velvety red fruits, vanilla, rubber industrial tubing, cracked pepper and wet forest floor permeate the nose, with a slight malo character that pervades, along with an overall floral element that wafts throughout. You can tell the pedigree with this. Deep red/purple coloration on a medium to full body, and even though this in young, the acidity seems well aligned, with tannins perfectly integrated, dry, but not austere. Palate is rich and refined, with prominent red fruits, not overly jammy or fleshy, but silky plums, black cherries, granite or graphite, with pencil shavings, slight balsamic characteristics, and a loooong lingering dry palate that lingers for quite some time. Really impressive for a wine so young! — 5 months ago

9.0

There is no magic, but everything about is solid, authentic aromas, excellent fruit quality, plush texture, sound structure, subtle, appealing oak and overall harmony and integrity. Some might prefer more earth, more personality or stronger oak presence, but it has the focus and the definition most commercial, industrial wines miss. — 8 years ago

SA 54-354 Hoffman Dallwitz Syrah 2016

Sami-Odi Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah 2016. This wine is a beast and will benefit greatly from some cellar time, but I can’t seem to keep my hands off. A triple decant along with 6 hours in the decanter at cellar temperature. I should have poured it on a cookie sheet with a couple of industrial fans blowing on it. All that said, the wine is spectacular and reminds me of my favorite Sami-Odi, “Baby Tui.” @Fraser McKinley. The Manfred Krankl Of Australia! What more can I say? — 8 years ago

I’m a fan of this although it is from a large brewer that some say is industrial. Really nice and certainly on the heavier/bolder side of the house. They said grilled meats - don’t doubt this work. I had it with a tuna course. — 2 years ago

Vieilles Vignes Morgon Gamay 2016

Delicious and elegant. Nose has wafty, gorgeous candied cherry fruit, granitic minerality, and a background note of barnyard funk to remind you this is not industrial Bojo. In the mouth it’s intensely flavorful but has a light feel and a silky texture. Beautifully pure fruit. Very nice, crisp acids. — 6 years ago

Dry Creek Vineyard

Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Taking a stroll through the Napa industrial wine complex will do you no harm if you stick with Dry Creek. Known for their aggressive maceration and malolactic fermentation. Dry Creek could suck deep fruit out of a cherry pit. But that’s fine. Rich cassis with an almost caramel richness and a heady mint and ox blood nose. Excellent value. — 8 years ago
