Quite rich, slightly smoky, with yellow stone fruit and an exotic note.
Bright and juicy on the palate, with nice depth and cool minerality underneath the ripe yellow fruit (underripe peach, mirabelle plums).
Not as linear & crisp as I expected but a very nice, juicy Riesling. — 5 months ago
Such a hard wine to get hold of this was
Not necessarily expensive, but it has such a long story behind that i can't even start
If you know Elisabetta Foradori this guy, mr Zierock, was her first husband and probably not a well mannered either
He was a strong biodynamic Steiner believer for my understanding and i truly thought this wine was going to be just off for some silly reason
On the other hand i find still a crisp fruit, there definitely been skin contact, such a chalky mineral that emphasises the ginger, the smokiness, the honeycomb and the very long after taste
Better when room temperature
I just cant believe that the legend of the Alps mountains has actually delivered so well
Just hope we could all think twice before putting anything else than fermented grape juice into winemaking
A very special bottle i had been holding on for such a long time..a real treasure..exciting emotion!! — 5 years ago

apple blossom, pear, honeydew, whetstone, honey, biscuit, lemon zest.
round and viscous gives way to lingering acidity. this is fully certified Biodynamic so it will precipitate tartrates!!! — 8 years ago
First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. The next Rhone varietal red was the Cuvée Keltie Syrah. Made up of 100% Syrah from four vineyards in Sonoma County; Kobler Family, Steiner Ranch, Obsidian and Richard Family vineyards. This bottling is 100% whole cluster fermented in small batches then aged for 21 months in neutral French oak. Only 301 cases produced.
Dark ruby red with some violet hues. Complex and layered nose with leather, twigs, sweet spices, touch floral and dark red berries. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Rich palate with vanilla, cinnamon, smokiness, baking spices, dark cocoa, dark berries and a touch of light petrol. Long finish. Drink till 2030.
$$$ - Tasted at the winery. Retail price is $90.00. — 8 years ago
White peach stone fruit in a hint, just a hint of diesel on opening, but the diesel smelled dissipated quickly and never came back. At first blasted almost a bit chewy yeast he kind of like a still champagne, but that changed as it opened up and got some subtle mineral notes along with the broad stone, fruit, white peach, apricot, you name it. Tried a little bit of smoked Gouda with it, and it definitely turned into a much better wine with the cheese and smokiness playing off the flavors of the semi crisp and fruity wine. — 4 months ago
Great Riesling at Lilla Ego — 3 years ago
2 of 2 byob choices at French bistro. I love this Piedmontese producer. Dark cherry notes, generous layer upon layer as it opens up. Just well made wine. Went beautifully with my MR flat iron steak. Big on natural wine making practices (Steiner?) so always a plus for me. — 7 years ago

Straw golden in colour yet this is no Spätlese.
Puristic, pure and stony mineral in the nose - slate, warm stones, a salty whiff and only far in the back - a piece of white peach, a slice of underripe pineapple, a few drops of honey.
Clean as a whistle and so fresh.
On the palate this is tightly wound and with great focus & depth, yet this has some substance & weight, too.
White peach, apricots, white pear and some rye toast. And lots of stones. And some white tea like tannins. And a very long, mineral, pure, beautiful finish, that leaves a hint of creaminess in the after taste.
What a beautiful, complete & complex wine!

Grapes from best sites around Heiligenstein of the former Steiner Allerheiligenstiftung, a religious foundation dating back to 1171! Able to taste ‘17&’18 side by side. Very Fragrant, more so than ‘17, aromas of stone fruits and spicy notes. On the palate plum, pear and citrus flavors with zesty spice. Medium+ length ending with vigor on an expressive fruit finish, good balance. Nice value. Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago
