Château de la Gardine

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

We went off grid with this wine to accompany a delicious cheese selection. Had all the CdP descriptors without being heavy - medium to full bodied. Earthy with red berries - a tarry note. Good without being very good even with the age. — 4 days ago

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc White Rhone Blend

Wow, just wow !!- a 17-year-old Rhône white from a well praised winery. The blend is wonderful. Even 2 varietals I had never tasted before- Picardan and Bourboulenc. still drinking in near perfect harmony. I wish I had a case. — 14 hours ago

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2017

+1 hour decant(some fine/cloudy sediment). A prodigious medium ruby red color. On the nose: red fruit, licorice, herbs, sandlewood, smoked meat. Taste: Still youthful and energetic with red raspberry/plum, dark currants, tea, earth, and a clove/dark chocolate med plus finish. YUM! — 12 days ago

Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2014

Another favourite Australian Red but this 2014 vintage not showing as well as it normally does. I put it down to the vintage. Aromatically it is spicy but subdued; digging deeper there is earth and clove with herbs. With time, meaty aromas emerge. Perhaps more time will reveal more and provide more depth on the palate. — 18 days ago

La Crau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1998

Beautiful ruby in color, with a very wide reddish rim. Bricking at the very top.

Light nose with red and black fruits, light cedar and tobacco leaf.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black plums, currants, cherries, earth, black coffee, oak, herbs, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 26 year old from the great 1998 vintage in Southern Rhone is drinking beautifully now. Soft and smooth, elegant and earthy.

Not so good right out of the bottle, and needed 90 minutes of airtime to open up properly, so be patient.

Robert Parker 95 points. Wine Spectator 94 points.

Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Showing nice complexity and good balance.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

14% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$120 (current vintage).

Domaine Raspail-Ay

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend

Medium ruby color, fresh fruity smell right after opening the bottle. Plum, sour cherries sprinkled with some pepper. Maybe should be aged a little more for tannins to smooth slightly. — 22 days ago
