Pours a purple hue with some fading at the rim; aromas of black and red fruit; raspberry, blackberry, some dark cherry, and cassis; palate with good acidity, congruent with the nose; there is a bit of vanilla clove baking spice oak on the palate. Alcohol is moderate at 13.5; I like the wine, and I don’t drink a whole lot of American wines. The oak influence should be more delicate in my opinion, as the fruit is pretty elegant. It overwhelms a bit, and holds it back. I have doubts that this aspect will improve with bottle age, but I have another couple bottles and will leave in the cellar as an experiment. — a month ago

1 hour decan(decent chunky/fine sediment). A striking still dark garnet color. On the nose: Captivating notes of dark fruit, stewed meat, mushroom, eucalyptus, roasted coffee bean. Taste: silky, opulent, structured wine with dark cherry, tobacco, charred earth, currants, herbs, pepper, and a coffee-pencil lead long finish with just a touch of heat from the alcohol. Some overripe, red delicious apple joins in with those impressions on the flavor side of things. Heavy body and somewhat unctuous. A blend of fruit from Barossa Valley (79%) & Eden Valley (21%), aged 18 months in 30% new French oak, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of dark fruits, licorice, spice, floral and tar. On the palate flavors of ripe juicy blackberry and plum with bits of smoky oak. Well balanced, great mouthfeel, soft velvet tannins, long finish ending with spice smoky oak character. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2020 Estate pours a bright, yellow/green color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright tropical fruit: pineapple, passion fruit, star fruit, lemon curd, almonds, toasted marshmallow, warm spices and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. Lovely stuff. Drink now through 2035+. Bottle No. 9032/12960 — 5 months ago

Lemon yellow in colour in the glass. Aromatic Pear and nutty notes. The palate is unctuous, rich and delicious of medium plus intensity and low acid. Excellent Viognier from the acknowledged leader in the variety making the best examples in Australia I believe. Not for long cellaring and drinking really well right now. Had another bottle 37 weeks later on 30th December 2021 with consistent notes. Always a pleasure to drink one of these. Julia Harding said a perfect varietal expression. Had my final bottle on 12th June 2022 with consistent notes. Apricot notes with an oily unctuous texture - an excellent winter white. — 5 years ago
