Typical nose with crushed rocks, lemon, white flowers. I like it! The palate shows a good acid drive and is rather more acid driven than your average grüner veltliner. Good width, citrusy notes all along, a bit of grip, and a chalky note all along the finish. This grüner veltliner is completely up my alley, sorry @Severn Goodwin but this is good stuff here 😅 — 3 years ago

Never ever thought I’d have this again. As perfect as Syrah gets. Thanks @Severn Goodwin ! — 4 years ago

Taking a cue from @Severn Goodwin I’m drinking some MO wine, which is made just a few hours from where I live. I had never had anything by Stone Hill prior to this, assuming it wasn’t very good, but I was wrong. This is a great light bodied red and was great with a slight chill. Black and blue fruits, forest floor, and a mineral streak combine with medium + acid and light tannins for an easy drinking, dry, fresh red. I bought a few of this producer’s wines and look forward to trying the others. A pleasant surprise! — 4 years ago
Nice with our cheeses. One, (Four Fowl) sent from our friend @Severn Goodwin. Really excellent.
Happy Holidays! 🎄🎁🎅⛄️❄️🌟
The Gosset was opened by our friend Christina. This has seen air through oak & leans into an oxidative style which, is good but, not my favorite.
Lots of bruised, golden & apple, bruised pear, touch of spoke cider, pineapple, ginger ale, strong, grey bulky minerals, bread dough, yeast, saline, sea fossils, chalky stones, some flint, limestone, white flowers, some yellow lilies & jasmine/spring flowers. The acidity is racy with a well balanced, smartly polished finish that is nicely persist. — 6 years ago
I have been meaning to try this bubbly for awhile! No specialty wine stores in Avon IN. I did pick this up at a liquor store; only one on the shelf. Yes a 2011 for $ 22.99! Does that seem right? @Severn Goodwin ? Present pear, baked golden apples, brioche, mild acidity and honeycomb! — 6 years ago

A producer bottling I’ve not had. This came to be in my procession via a wine exchange with @Severn Goodwin.
This 03 Jade is In fine shape due to its quality production and Severn’s excellent storage of it.
Nose reveals ripe, slightly stewed & baked; dark cherries, blackberries, mixture fresh of our fruits as well as blue fruits with hints of faint poached strawberries. Sweet tarriness, black licorice, black pepper, dark steeped fruit tea, expresso roast, bay leaf, dry crushed rocks, barrel shavings, dark, rich earthiness with dry leaves, mid dark spice, limestone minerals, dry top soil, underbrush with fresh & withering; dark, red, purple, blue florals framed in heavy lavender and soft violets.
The palate is, ripe, rich, elegant, round and lush. After roughly 15 years in bottle, she shows, rounded, dusty, chewy/meaty, dry tannins. The structure, tension, balance & length are just the other side of its peak. The fruits like the nose are slightly stewed & baked; dark cherries, blackberries, mixture fresh of our fruits as well as blue fruits with hints of faint poached strawberries. Sweet tarriness, anise to black licorice, cinnamon, vanilla, black pepper, smoked meats, dark steeped fruit tea, expresso roast, bay leaf, dry crushed rocks, old tobacco, barrel shavings, dark, rich earthiness with dry leaves, mid dark spice, limestone minerals, dry top soil, very dry underbrush, some tree bark/sap with brilliant, fresh & withering; dark, red, purple, blue florals framed in heavy lavender and soft violets. The acidity is really nice...like a cool mountain stream. The long finish is delicious and persist endlessly into dry, dark spice on the long set.
Still has another 3-5 years of good drinking ahead of it depending on your storage and the age you like your wine to show.

Producer notes, San Francisco Lawyer Jim Paras started the winery in 1984. At the time, he produced about 8,000 cases a year of Syrah, Merlot, Mourvhdre and Viognier. In 1994, Chalone began distributing his wines and eventually bought the winery in 2000. — 6 years ago

See previous note from February 2023. A full bodied Margaret River Cabernet - cassis and herbs. This is really good. From the dress circle Wilyabrup area of northern Margaret river with neighbours like Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen etc. Barb said woody notes (not meaning oak influence). All the best Margaret River Cabernet attributes with the texture and mouthfeel of an excellent Barossa Shiraz. We both loved this wine. Have the last one in mid 2025. — 3 years ago
This is the most unique and well crafted Bacigalupi I’ve tasted. The color the texture are on point! @Paul T- Huntington @Severn Goodwin @Shay A @Ron R — 4 years ago

According to wine searcher, The Côte d'Or and Chablis – and Champagne – dominate Chardonnay searches to such an extent that it's unfair to bracket wines from elsewhere in the same class for this particular list. Only one non-French wine appears in our 50 most searched-for Chardonnays, and even then it appears in 49th place.

This Rudd is completely different story though, I wouldn’t pay anywhere near release but auction price is perfect. I’ve bought 18 bottles of this 08 in the past year, all fantastic Burgundy style winesTasted this several weeks ago. At the suggestion of @Severn Goodwin , I bought several more bottles. Previous notes apply. Particularly enjoyable in a hot afternoon. — 5 years ago
Wawaweewah this is a great wine. Huge aromatics, creamy palate, great texture, all buttressed with massive zinging acidity. Apricots, melon, peach, minerals, massive finish. Decanted in the AM on the sage advice of @Severn Goodwin, what a pleasure tasting this come alive in the glass. Fabulous. — 5 years ago

Previous notes apply. More cassis than the recently tasted 2008 Lenton Brae (nearby vineyard) and overall a slightly better wine. An amazingly good 2nd wine from Woodlands from an excellent vintage. This is predicted to be drinking well towards the end of this decade and as I have 5 left I will have one every 18 months from now on if I have the patience! I ended up having the next one 50 weeks later on 31st October 2021. Definitely more herbal and brambley characters than cassis and black currant. Just medium weight 91 points. I think drink the remaining bottles in the next few years. — 6 years ago
First, I’d like to thank @Severn Goodwin for this excellent example of Rosé in our bottle exchange.
The nose shows leaner, candied & floral fruits of; strawberries, watermelon, black cherries, raspberries, candied rhubarb, amazing powdery chalkiness, fine white to grey volcanics, sea spray with candied pink florals.
The palate is; round, lush, juicy and smartly balanced. Classic French Rosé. Ripe with high viscosity. Candied & floral fruits of; strawberries, watermelon, black cherries, raspberries, tangerine, candied rhubarb, amazing powdery chalkiness, white spice w/ a ginger lean, some of the very best fine white to grey volcanics I’ve had, sea spray with candied pink florals. The acidity is a cool, rushing river. The rich, elegant, well polished, lush finishes with excellent minerality that persists equally with lush fruitiness.

This lovely wine was a gift from @James K because he knew it was my favorite vintage.
An old world / Napa style with low alcohol and higher acidity. A little green - guessing this was picked early? Color is starting to show age with a little bricking on the edges. Similar story on the nose and palate. Just starting to show some age on its 10th Bday. Nice leather throughout. Fruit is stewed plum and dark fruit. Grippy tannins that go on for awhile to finish off. This is going great with a little salami, cheddar, and olive plate. Thanks James!
Also @"Odedi" #fridaycabernetfix !!! 👍😄🍷
Also @Severn Goodwin 2013!

Soft, supple and voluptuous, the 2012 is a great choice for drinking while some of the more structured vintages rest comfortably in the cellar. Sweet mocha and spice notes wrap around the silky, seamless finish. @Severn Goodwin @Paul T- Huntington Beach — 4 years ago
Post Elsa checklist- gnarly drinking Sangiovese, nobile-tough. Always better day two. Elsa was a bit anticlimactic down in The Gulf Coast, so this got special attention; very disjointed on day 1, but reconstituted afterward; blackberries. Ready to rumble w Elsa on day 2-3, eh? @Severn Goodwin — 5 years ago

I bought the Dry Aged by mistake, not my favorite type of steak & wouldn’t buy it again, at least on purpose.I’ve had Enderle & Moll Pinot but, not their Rosé. Bought this after seeing @Severn Goodwin post. I like it. It needs to get some air but, more importantly, it needs to cellar for another year or two.
The color is richer - darker...shows more time in contact with skin.
The nose reveals; bubble gum, juicy & candied; strawberries, black cherries, black raspberries, plum, raspberries & cranberry extract. Red liqueured cola, red licorice, herbal notes, limestone minerals, chalkiness, grey volcanics, candle wax, potpourri with candied florals of; dark, red, purple & blue framed in violets & lavender.
The body rich & full with high viscosity. bubble gum, juicy & candied; strawberries, black cherries, black raspberries, plum, raspberries, pomegranate & cranberry extract. Red liqueured cola, mix of red & black licorice, herbal notes, limestone minerals, chalkiness, grey volcanics, dark, rich soil, candle wax, tree sap with bark shavings, mix of dark & white spice (ginger), potpourri with candied, perfumed, florals of; dark, red, purple & blue framed in violets & lavender. The acidity is a picture perfect Hawaii waterfall. The long, rich, lush, well polished & balanced finish is persistent for minutes while falling onto perfect mid spice.
