My last bottle of 2015 Applejack Pinot Noir. Sweet red fruits - lacked the complexity I was expecting at 10 years of age. The following night more savoury, earthy, mushroom like notes making the wine more complex and delicious. Looks like a nice Columbia Valley Cab. Dark color. Heady and dense nose. Maybe a herbal and earthy streak in with the plum sauce on the nose. Flavors are chewy and vicious. Horehound meets berry cobbler and a bit of flint. Plenty bittersweet like a good Cab should be. Has a big style, but holds a bit of elegance as well. This wine was lost in my cellar for a couple of years until I found it a few days ago. As a 2016 I probably would have drunk this a year or two ago. Now at 9 years of age it is a wonderful Chardonnay with more complexity and intensity. More on the citric than stone fruit side. A good example of mature Yarra Valley Chardonnay. — a month ago
I really like what Evening Land does in general and their Pinots in particular. Lovely nose with some good cherry. Balanced mouthfeel with good dark red fruit and some nice herby notes. Acid is medium but works well to hold it together and the persistence is good. Really quite enjoyable. — 2 months ago
