It's time to get my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a nice Cabernet from California.
Dark ruby in color with a brick/ reddish rim.
Interesting nose with overwhelming spices like thyme, eucalyptus, tarragon, cinnamon, light wood, licorice, earth, light vegetables, blue and black fruits, black pepper, light alcohol, pencil lead and mint. So interesting.
Full-bodied, bold and smooth, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, cherries, strawberries, light oak, spices, earth, dark coffee, wet leaves, vegetables, vinaigrette, tobacco, dried herbs and peppercorn.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.
This is a very unique wine from Los Olivos District in California. Showing unique flavors that I have not encountered in a California Cabernet, yet very interesting.
This Single Vineyard Cabernet is showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel, and really unique. I don't remember the last time I was stomped with a California Cabernet Sauvignon.
Good by itself or with food, and needs time to open up properly. I gave it 3 hours.
I paired it with cheeses, nuts and olives. Very tasty.
A blend of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with some (less than 10%) Cabernet Franc. Aged for 30 months in 25% New French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Light purple in color with a wide pinkish rim.
Strong fruity nose of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, light earth, wild flowers, light vegetables, spices, rose water, dark coffee and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with raspberries, strawberries, tangy cherries, spices, peppercorn and earth.
Long tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very tasty Grenache from California. Easy drinking and spicy with a nice mouthfeel. Well structured, with a tangy and spicy backbone.
Good right out of the bottle and better after an hour of airtime, when the tannins show up.
The nose smells "clean", which was very interesting, and the alcohol is very unnoticeable, so watch out 😉
100% Grenache grapes.
I paired it with cheeses and heavy appetizers.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

One of the wines you buy every year - no questions. 2018 is different from what I remember though - influenced from the variety (Sangiovese) more so than the method - carbonic maceration. It’s earthier and less jovial but still equally awesome - light crimson cranberry red with a big whiff of mushrooms, soil, and just an afterthought of anything grapey or bubble gummy. All grown up. — 14 days ago
One of the great things about Palmina is that they pull stuff from their cellar from time to time and offer them as part of wine club shipments. This took about 20-30min to open up (had some funky aromas initially which eventually blew off), but once it did it showed some great, older aromas of dried strawberries, hints of sour cherry, and old leather. Great acidity on the palate...and it went great with the AMAZING pork fried rice dish that Vanessa made us for dinner! — 2 days ago
Salmon in color with an orange tint.
On the nose citrus, lemons, light raspberries, green apples, pears, light dirt, minerals and white pepper.
Medium plus in body with high acidity. Crisp and refreshing.
Dry on the palate with lemons, grapefruits, apples, earth, dried herbs and almonds on the smooth finish.
This is a nice Single Vineyard Rosé from Los Olivos District in California. Engaging, pleasant and nicely made with a very nice mouthfeel.
A good food wine, that I paired with cheeses and olives.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

This is a wonderful Viognier from California. Even as a 4 year old, it is fresh, opulent, rich and exciting.
Showing citrus, oak, grapefruits, red apples, minerals, melons, spices, vanilla and black pepper.
Full-bodied and big and bold, with medium acidity. Beautiful legs on this white wine.
Spicy and a pleasure to drink by itself.
15.2% alcohol by volume.
