Tasted blind and served with another wine. Yellow gold, clearly Reisling and probably German in origin. Notes of mango, tangerine, kiwi, river stones and some petrol. Very rich, but lacking acidity in the way you'd like which suggests this is older. I guess JJ Prum Wehlener Sunnenhuhr Auslese Goldkap. I'm close, it's the white label bottle of the same. This improved over time with air, even though we're told it had been open for several hours. — 6 years ago
Last weekend turned out to be a 2011 extravaganza and thankfully, a rather pleasant one. Not my favourite vintage in Europe, with the Mosel churning out many wines that could occupy higher pradikat levels than stated. Nevertheless, the best examples had a ripe delicacy, showing lightness and freshness within the opulence. That was just exactly what the Prum GK portrayed - rich and earthy notes wrapped in crackling acidity. Pure aromas of mango, peach, orange, fresh quince, and cream, with a light honey note and lovely floral qualities. The palate manages to remain very juicy, despite the ripeness and botrytis. Immense weight and finish, as expected of a GK. Complains? I felt the botrytized notes could have come off a little cleaner on the palate. There is slightly too much musky-savoury element, although it does not disrupt the freshness of the wine. MO also detected a slight bitterness in the finish and she felt the minerality could be more pronounced, both points I don't really agree with but hey... she's got a better palate than me. — 7 years ago
Petrol and high mineral tones framed by rich and vibrant orchard fruits and blossoms with almost a sweet celery note. Purity that I've come to expect with JJ Prüm — 11 years ago

Tasted blind. Dark yellow gold color. Similar nose to the wine next to it. More complex, more sweet, richer and seems older. Notes of honey and almond, petrol, apricot. My guess (which we have to throw out there before both bottles are revealed) is the 90 Trimbach CSH. It's the JJ Prum WSA Goldkap, which I guessed the other bottle to be. Was definitely more rich and the better of the two bottles tonight. Perfect compliment to the cold tomato gazpacho it’s served with. — 6 years ago

Medium lemon , touches of gold , quite young looking . Really aromatic with candied peel , marzipan , white flowers , baked apple, orange peel . On the palate this is quite sweet and rich , but with high balanced acidity . Candied peel , baked apple , barley sugar , camomile . Quite intensely sweet finish , but with good underlying bracing acidity . Lightness of touch with great intensity . Still pretty young and sweet .
