I met @Aaron Hamrock on Wednesday and the first wines he shared were a ‘86 Mouton (my Red Wine of the trip), a ‘90 Beausajor a ‘07 Larkmead Lark and this, the holy grail of Spanish wines. Pretty solid intro. This was rich and round but still not fully strutting in my opinion. If the dinner was 2 hours longer and it hadn’t been completely drained it would have been interesting to see where this went. I say hold if you have one, which you probably don’t. — 6 days ago

A nicely aged Spanish Red from Ribera Del Duero.

Showing black and red fruits with earth notes, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Long finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 23 Year old is drinking very nicely now with a nice mouthfeel and good structure.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the tannins.

Nicely balanced with nice complexity. A great sipping wine.

I paired it with a cheese plate and crackers.

13% alcohol by volume.

Wonderfully lush. A whiff of menthol, some syrupy sweet red fruit. Oak still prominent, but overall this is a beautifully complete and lucid wine. Needs tiiiime. Very good potential. — 15 days ago
