Still quite primary both on the nose and the plate with ripe blackberry and stewed plum leading the charge. Deeply concentrated but in no way overly jammy. There are nuances of peppery spicy and earthy elements that prevent it from one dimensional. Delicious but I would hold for another 5 years at least if I have the patience. — 6 months ago
Ruby coloration with some transparency. On the nose, cherry, balsamic, vanilla, leather, crushed rock and earth. On the palate, medium to full body, cherry, currants, anise, espresso bean, leather, balsamic, vanilla and chocolate; a nicely layered palate with a medium to long finish. Tannins are still quite present but balanced. — 2 years ago
I bought and drank a fair amount of Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre back in the late 1990s, and always enjoyed them. First time in the past 20 years, this seems a little softer and polished, a little lower ABV (13.5 vs. 14+ in earlier vintages), this is vinified using conventional fermentation as well as some ripasso fermentation (think Amarone drying grapes on straw mats), and has some very nice complexity and length, very nice!! — 4 days ago
Teacher Appreciation Dinner at Palazzo Bass. Marel loved it! — a year ago
Warm nose with chocolate notes, clove, nutmeg, and coffee. Hazelnut brownie; earthy mushroom. Tart raspberry surprise inside, with licorice, cedar, bitter arabica and sharp tobacco notes, rosemary, tart bing and rich, ripe black cherry. Oak adding cinnamon and a ghost of vanilla. Peppercorn.

Raisiny and grape-y nose offers tart and powdered candy notes, white mushroom, schist, light pepper and tea. Dry open of grape-y tartness, bing cherry and lavender petal. Mouth-coating with cranberry-blackberry and black currant, bitters and dates. Great priced ripasso.

Vintage 2010 | This reserva is made of 90% Sangiovese, 10% mix Canaiola and Colorino. Ripened on foudres from Slavonian and French oak. The wine has a velvety taste, vanilla and spices. I drank this Chianti several times, at this age I am really enthusiastic! Paired with spaghetti and meatballs in Napolitanen tomatosauce. — 7 days ago
