Love #Ripasso. This has great bang for the buck.
Dark red, oily color & texture, medium bodied. Some browning at the edge. Dumb at first opening to dry, consistent tannins, marachino cherry with faint herbs.
Opens nicely with lively tannin, fine acidity giving it an edge. — 8 years ago
An excellent example of #valpolicella #classico #superiore it’s almost too good for the category and seems more like a #ripasso deep ruby color. Medium+ aromas and flavors of ripe strawberry, and red fruit (ripe red plums and red cherries) then there is a undertone of herbal (sage and sagebrush and thyme) secondary aromas and flavors of subtle oak (tobacco and cedar). — 4 years ago
Really good x. Opens up nicely. Damp earth, stewed black fruits, black olive. Tannins are incorporated. Heavy flavors with light mouthfeel. Great balance in all aspects. Opened 7/7/17. — 7 years ago

Slightly cloudy color and big tears from the alcohol and glycerine liquor texture of the #ripasso nose is evolved and perfect for #italian food with scents of tomatoes tomato stew balsamic and bay leaves. It has a slightly scratchy touch on the palate and is drier than what I expected from a ripasso. Where it gains points is in its complexity and bold elegance. — 9 years ago
Vintage 2014 / I never forget my visit to the ‘Bure Alto’ vineyard, because I was impressed how high the vines were tied and grown. It’s an amazing site. This wine has a compelling smell: warm, spices, coffee, mocca and even chocolate. Smooth drinking with deer goulash and stewed bell pepper. #valpolicella #ripasso — 6 years ago

Raisiny and grape-y nose offers tart and powdered candy notes, white mushroom, schist, light pepper and tea. Dry open of grape-y tartness, bing cherry and lavender petal. Mouth-coating with cranberry-blackberry and black currant, bitters and dates. Great priced ripasso.
