Oracle Of The Wind

Wind Gap Wines

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2009

Light body and easy to drink. It had a touch of that wooly meaty character that I enjoy in a Syrah. — 5 months ago

Sonoma Coast Syrah

Blackberry, black cherry, herbs, bramble, forest floor, bacon. On the juicy side of Syrah, holding up well with age , pleasant tertiary flavors — 3 years ago

Majik Vineyard Syrah 2014

Color of different shades of purple, with a bit brown note on the rim. Quite clear and light considering she is a Syrah. Nose of fragrant aldehyde, dried strawberry, oak, prune, spice, a bit leather, charcoal, and dark cherry. Nose is intense and beautiful. Taste follows the nose with addition of ripe grapes, almost no tannins and low alcohol content. Clean and savory. Right amount of acidity and a tiny bit tinkling. Aftertaste is also long enough to amaze me. Very nice. — 5 years ago

Luna Matta & Glen Rose Vineyards Nebbiolo 2006

My last bottle from the defunct yet memorable winery.

Smells so delicious, like a fruit yogurt

This drinks like it is fresh, with blackberry bramble, subtle and unique red fruits tucked behind the leather ones.
Tannins are still very gripping, and the acidity tames it back. A touch of heat and its off to the races!

You probably wanted to hang on if the winery is no more. Cheers!🍷

Wind Storm

Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel 2015

This is a great version of a California Zin. Nice notes of spice and pairs so well with a red meat meal. Found this on sale and will go get more while I can. Love the label and the cork. I am under a thunderstorm warning and this is so nice to watch the clouds rolling. Get some. — 3 years ago

Luna Matta Nebbiolo 2008

Well, glad I kept this for another 6 years to see how it evolved. Cork was in amazing shape. Brick red. Almost tawny in glass. Dried flowers and herbs on the nose. Not a lot of fruit on the nose. Palate is more dried flowers, roses, leather, the faintest touch of pouch tobacco, plums, dried fig, maybe persimmon. It dries the mouth with tannin and acidity. Definitely secondary flavors starting. Probably the best wine deal I’ve ever had for this type of quality. Wish I had one more to try in 2028. — 8 months ago

Woodruff Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Tasting great right now. Olives and prosciutto on the nose and initial palate. Good amount of fruit, tart cherry, pomegranate, some citrus, earth, forest. Outstanding with a vegetable pesto soup. Drink it soon! — 3 years ago

Nellessen Vineyard Syrah 2016

Outrageously loud nose. Green peppercorn, spicy beef jerky, powdered rock dust, tangy red berries behind all that. Balanced and full of flavor, there’s nice acidity lifting flavors of crushed rocky minerals. There is something like dried red berries - almost Christmas-spiced- that turn savory as the finish progresses. Tannins almost fully resolved and soft. Fascinating. — 3 years ago
