Easy drinking with all Italian grapes in the blend. A more traditional one if you will... Lighter side of medium body. Soft tannins — 5 months ago
2020/4/15-16 with Venetian red tonguebsole roasted with potatoes and onions and chicory salad, and black sea bream linguine and fava, pancetta and onion ragu. Monteraponi is always so good - up there with Montevertine among my favorite Chianti estates. The 2017 edition is a light to medium weight with a nice transparent texture, and that dried orange peel and cherry thing. — 6 years ago
A med+ ruby red core. The nose is very complex, in line with it's former classification as the Riserva of Corzano and Paterno, and because it is now an IGT instead that is 100% Sangiovese like all of Tuscany's best Sangiovese only IGT wines that do not call themselves Chianti Classico (Montevertine is the OG of this philosophy). The wine is aromatically endowed with beautiful layers of fresh, red, dusty, cherries and berries, with barely a touch of sweet balsamic, earth, leather, red and brown spices. On the palate this med to med+ bodied wine has spectacular energy, lift and poise, with med/med+ fine tannins and acidity that leans more med+ but is perfectly integrated. The vibrant and spiced red fruits on the palate are classic, juicy, and dense, with a long finish. You can definitely enjoy this now with some air for the delicious primary fruit or let it age gracefully for 10-12 years easy. — 11 days ago
I brought this bottle to the Tasting Group and served double-blind. Popped and poured. Deep, translucent ruby with a watery rim. On the nose: red cherries, dried herbs, Earl Grey, dusty earth and a hint of baking spice. On the palate: again with the red cherries, black tea, and dried herbs. Medium tannins and good acid. Impeccable balance. Finish is long and a touch savory. One taster remarked that it reminded him of Montevertine (whoa, he was close!). Pound for pound, one of the best Rosso’s coming from Montalcino that can be had at any price and this can be had under $30 all day. The 2016 is a fire cracker in its youth and delivering the goods right now. A contrast to the 2015 which, to my palate, was a touch flabby. Absolutely charming. — 5 years ago
2020 / high expectations, not a bad wine but didn’t live up to it for me. Maybe too young, maybe it was me — 2 months ago
Swooning for Sangiovese this is much more open than the 14-16 at this age, perfect, classic Sangiovese. This bottle really brought the Montevertine comparison into focus. Gentle, perfumed, elegant red fruit, florals and spice, persistent and complex. — 3 years ago

Balanced herbs and fruit shine with bay leaf. Still a lot of power. — 20 days ago
