Barbera d'Alba 2017

Hard not to pick this off a restaurant wine list for 35 euros. We will probably get it on night 2 as well. I’ll see if I can link to the list. https://www.derbygrill.it/cms/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/LA-CARTA-DEI-VINI-Maggio-2021.pdf — 9 days ago

@Max Kelly definitely considered it but at that price point, I’m looking for a wine at its peak

@Chris MacLean I know what you mean, but I will say the ‘15 I drank off the list in La Morra showed beautifully

Cantina Bartolo Mascarello

Langhe Freisa 2015

In the glass, a touch hazy. On the nose, remarkable bright red fruits and tar. The bouquet is deeply layered but not really easy to pull everything out in the context of the meal. On the palate, crunchy red fruits and a touch frizzante that dissipates. After some air, roses join the massive aromatic theater of this wine. Utterly fresh and with quite substantial structure! A lovely Freisa and likely the best I’ve ever encountered. Bravissimo! — a month ago

Dry, excellent with blue cheese. Jammy, bright red fruit - but not over powering. Excellent! — 3 days ago

Nivole Moscato d'Asti

Super delightful, and flexible. Floral and fruity, it went with a strawberries and lemon sorbet as well as with an onion galette. — a month ago

I Castagni Bolgheri Superiore Cabernet-Syrah Blend 2016

Red Super Tuscan Blend that is equal parts Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Deep red/purple color. A cornucopia of berry fruit aromas (Red, blue and black) along with touches of ash and earth. Explosive berry fruit flavors with hints of stone and orange peel. Full bodied with very firm tannins. — a month ago

Campo Casalin i Castei Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2009

Ania bday wine. Bought at winery about 8 years ago. Last drank in PR last year. Awesome how amarone should be. Blackberry raspberry tobacco on nose. Delicious cherry prune with chocolate mid plate followed by cherry again or is it prune. A red fruit black fruit mixed to perfection with some earthy tobacco overtones. Damn wish Gad another couple of bottles. Awesome. One of my top 8 amarone producers. Delicious. — a month ago
