What a bad boy. Full of supple blackberry fruit from the Syrah balanced with lovely and silky tannin from the Tempranillo. Absolutely excellent flavor and structure. Truly exciting for Oregon. — 8 years ago
Big soft headed white octopus. Opaque, hazy, red-just-below-the-head soft-transitions to amber to lemon sorbet. Matador-giant lacings with low angle energy postures; twisted winter woods that stick hard. Lemon cake and orange bread nose breezes sweet carrot and even sweeter grapefruit and delightful cherry blossom. White cherry and raspberry- grapefruit over mandarin and its peel, candied ginger, nutmeg and a pith party. Vintage 2015 / 74% zinfandel 16% petit shiraz 8% carignan 2% matador = mourvedre. Dark colour with cardinalred rim. A beneficent and seductive smell. Got me thinking what was I was doing the day these grapes were picked...napping, punching play-dough, sipping Mott's, laughing apple juice breathe.
This is so good and so alive in '24. Sweet and balanced, enveloped in deep red delicious apples, a thick crisp skin, slathered head to toe in honey, a vein of brushed sage and crunchy topping of burnt popcorn kernels.
