Margaret Hill

Chalk Hill

Estate Bottled Chalk Hill Chardonnay 2022

A Fav! Medium lemon color with aromas of stone fruits, spice, floral, cedar, biscuits and citrus. On the palate flavors of apple, pear & ripe apricot with citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty toasty oak notes, rich with creamy tones. Smooth, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit and integrated creamy oak. Nice! — 13 days ago

Leeuwin Estate

Art Series Margaret River Chardonnay 2016

Presented double-blind. The wine pours a light straw color with medium viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and ripe notes of apple, pear, underripe pineapple, lemon curd, nuts and minerals. I felt like there was some deft use of oak. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+, bordering on high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and chocked full of minerals. My immediate impression was Bourgogne Blanc and I was having a hard time getting away from it. So I called Chardonnay, from France, Burgundy, Chassagne-Montrachet with 3-5 years of age. Gosh dammit! Margaret River strikes again!!! Blind, I always seem to call these Chablis or some other high quality white Burg. And I adore the Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnays. They always impress me. Drink now through 2036. — 20 days ago

Hyped by the store. But can not beat Peter Lauer. 60$ is too much. Quite tart. Austere. Needs open up. — 9 days ago

Chappellet

Pritchard Hill Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Decanted for 30 min. Deep, inky puple color. Loads of dark fruit... blackberries, blueberry, licorice, and sage. With a short decant, it is drinking beautifully now but zero rush to drink. This still has many more years left in the tank. — a day ago

Liquid Farm

White Hill Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2022

Tropical aromatics, slightly buttery, perfumed jasmine.

Grapey, sunshine, minerals, California breeze. Nice chalky chew.

Papaya and melon fruits combine with minerality and a soft acidity that produces a super well balanced Chablis like Chardonnay that still holds on to its grippy California terroir
