From magnum. Partially poured into a decanter and enjoyed over the course of a couple days. Best on Day 2. The 2015 Pritchard Hill pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and richly fruited with powerful, heady notes of cassis, blackberries, plum, purple flowers, tobacco, cocoa, some star anise and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is luxurious. Classic Pritchard Hill character and surely a candidate for top vineyard status if the US were to ever adopt a classification status. There’s a long future here, especially in this larger format. Drink now with patience through 2055.

The 2015 ‘Pritchard Hill’ Cabernet Sauvignon by Chappellet is a stunning new wine by this storied Napa winery. Sourced from their estate vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 22 months in new French oak prior to bottling. This bold, yet elegant wine shows very dark aromas of espresso bean, tar, cassis and anise that all collide in the glass. The palate shows off a silky texture, yielding both incredible tension and viscosity. Black cherry compote, mocha, anise, cigar ash and chocolate covered black raspberry flavors all impress on the palate. The exceedingly long finish lingers long on the palate. While exceptional in its youth, this esteemed wine will only improve with extended bottle age. Drink 2020-2040- 97

An absolute beast despite an hour decant. Nose of volcanic earth, brilliant tannic structure supporting black and dark red fruit. Animale of the Malbec comes through with dense oak. Find a deep dark place in your cellar and forget for 10+ years this could be 99+.

The 2015 Chappellet Prichard Hill has developed into a beast of a wine. Loaded with fruit this wine is going to continue to develop for many years. But decanting needed if you plan to have it in the next few years
