Manuel Manzaneque

Domaine Seguin-Manuel

Bourgogne "Pinot Noir" 2017

Soft approach. Muddled cherry. Short finished. Light tannin. Smooth finish. Punches above its weight. Very likely to age gracefully. If you want a jammy muskyish Pinot - aim for 2023 — 10 days ago

Manuel José Colares

Reserva Colares Vinho Tinto 1997

There must be a story here, as this 100% Ramisco has a Colheita designation on its label, which I thought could only be used for Port. For a 23 yro wine it still flutters with intensity, but has a faded Ribena palate, beautiful red brick color, & crushed currants/oil paint on the nose. It also avoids the metallic flavor my previous bottle had. For under 40$ it’s a treat to taste such a graceful aged wine. — 3 months ago

Bodegas Muga

Reserva Rioja Tempranillo

Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga Martínez, now run by Manuel, Isabel & Isaac Muga Caño. Deep Ruby, aromas of sweet red and black fruits with pepper spice, unmistakable Muga. 4 grape blend from the Haro district (70% Tempranillo, rest Garnacha, Mazuelo & Graciano), palate shows cherry and currant flavors with espresso, vanilla & toasty oak tones. Soft full tannins, lively acidity on a medium+ finish ending with an earthy mineral character. Nice value! Great vintage! Went great with a gourmet pizza! — 3 months ago

Casta Ramisco 1997

Don’t know if I settled down the third time around or the wine did, but a more focused experience this time. Who knows, maybe three times a charm. An ethereal light to medium body, all balsamic, mushroom notes & wild black currants. — 2 months ago
