A special treat with family and a Portuguese dinner on the deck. After an hour of air, the nose shows a complex amalgam of crushed rock dust, hickory smoke, leather, and even a little macerated cherry fruit. Loads of flavor in an impossibly light frame. 11% alcohol. Went very well with braised chicken and Chourica stew.

There must be a story here, as this 100% Ramisco has a Colheita designation on its label, which I thought could only be used for Port. For a 23 yro wine it still flutters with intensity, but has a faded Ribena palate, beautiful red brick color, & crushed currants/oil paint on the nose. It also avoids the metallic flavor my previous bottle had. For under 40$ it’s a treat to taste such a graceful aged wine.

Not as good as prior bottles, fruit is starting to fade, though plenty of acidity to balance what fruit is left, Ramisco grown in the sand in Portugal lasts a long time!! (11% ABV)!!!
