Got a great deal on 6 pack of these two Bordeaux greats. Both got scores of 99, but the range of scores was pretty wide for both as well. I know I have to lay them down for 10 years+ but I wanted to try both for a baseline.
The Palmer is showing a lot more than the Ducru. It’s very enjoyable now! Nose is fantastic if a touch muted but still get nice cedar, black cherry, hint of floral, and something herbal. The palate is slate, cherry, blackberry, and currant. Not muted or closed in the least, but the slate thing overlays the fruit. Does that make sense? Help me describe that.
All in all I love this wine. Can’t hardly wait for 10 years from now. Guessing I won’t! — 2 years ago
The 2004 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is a scintillating wine that is showing marvelously at this juncture. The nose is gorgeous and intense right out of the gate with bright red and dark fruits with chocolate, sagebrush, cherry tomato and blueberry compote that all collide in the glass. Lighter herbal tones come into play after the bottle has been opened more than two hours. The palate takes on an incredible elegance and silky mouthfeel. While obviously rich, this is quite well-balanced. The texture gives the err of decadence. With refined tannins, the wine has tremendous richness, yet relies on great finesse with blueberry cordial, black tea, exotic spices and mocha flavors. The exceedingly long finish lingers in this exciting fifteen year old Cabernet. This incredible wine is peaking now so enjoy it over the next five years as there is no reason to wait on this heavyhitter. Drink 2019-2023- 99 — 6 years ago
Beautiful wine. Slightly prefer the 1999, which I had last night. The ‘99 was musty and tasted lots of mushrooms. The ‘01 is still earthy, but fruitier. Dark fruits, with a bit of tobacco and cedar. — 9 months ago

The 2013 Opus One is an absolute stunning release, and is certainly one of most impressive young wines I have ever tasted from this estate. This shows a darker, more forward profile from this warm vintage, and is clearly one to contemplate, as there are so many complexities and working parts to this compelling wine. This instantly impresses as it opens to intense aromatics of crème de cassis, black cherry, blackberry compote and black plum woven together with mocha, sandalwood. The mouthfeel is voluptuous and beautifully concenrated with deep and penetrating flavors of black cherry, créme de cassis, blackberry cobbler, anise, sage and anise, which all resonate beautifully across the palate. This is already extreamly appealing, but try to resist this hedonistic wine for at least another few years, as there is undoubtedly a long future ahead. Drink 2019-2035-99 — 6 years ago
An elegant, full-body Cabernet that paired perfectly with an incredible Tomahawk steak. The perfect bottle to celebrate our anniversary! RP gave this 99 points in 2016 and I think it deserves 100 points today. Thanks for recommending this @Billy L. , it was such a great tasting at Cliff Lede.
