Domaine Auguste Clape
Cornas Syrah

Dark, stewed aromas. Silky attack, bright cranberry red mid palate. Tannins still a bit tense between fruit and oak. A little VA accentuating the difference. Lingers nicely. Food adds great depth.

Sep 3rd, 2021Riper than I would have expected. A tiny bit of wood coming through at the moment. Major pepper and olive. Obviously needs a ton of time.

2012 vintage. Wow! Truly great wine!! Pure, meaty, exotic, and beautiful. This wine delivers on all levels. Power, but restraint. Depth, but purity. Exotic, but correct. Everything I want in a northern Rhone. I will find a way to buy more of this!

The critics said it best “cornas at its finest” and I fully agree - this required a few hours in the decanter to open up and was showing even better on day 2 leading me to believe this could continue aging for another half decade before truly peaking
