College baseball and a nice Maconnais white. Nose is very deep, with wet limestone minerality, and pear fruit augmented by a clean sweaty note. Nice depth of flavor, with pear skin fruit and dark minerality in equal measure. Very good length and some nice acidity peeks though at the very end (unusual for the Maconnais). Fantastic value, and in the top 1% of wines from this region. — 13 days ago
Nothing better than a well aged Chardonnay and fatty, cold water fish. This bottle is our go to pairing for grilled steelhead trout.
Nose is evolving since my prior post, oxidized green apple peel and cold caramel.
Palate is lightly sweet lemon curd/custard, baked red apple, cooked lemon, warm granite dust and a zing of acidity on the close.
Our feline house managers pestered for comfortable portions on the trout, they are good boys and girls, generally, so we endulge.
Great night listening to Hugh Masekela and Mongo Santamaria on the HiFi, everything complimented!
One bottle left, then we move along to the next vintage. — 17 days ago
Notes of lemon cello and honeysuckle, perhaps green apple jelly rancher. The mouth is light and refreshing, with a pleasant tart finish. I almost taste some slight toasted oak on the finish, but it’s 100% stainless steel. Great with food or by itself. For the price, it’s a solid Macon-Charnay. — 3 days ago
Green apple and pear. Medium bodied, with a slightly saline and chalky finish that reminds me of oysters. Oysters I should have been having with it. Simple wine, by very nicely balanced. — 7 days ago
Super funky nose. Earth, moss, even a smidge of hard boiled egg. Not super sweet red fruit shines here after the first sip which frankly had me concerned it resembled grape juice. But then the true flavor profile was revealed and its complex enough mixture of raspberry, funky wood, herb and even a hint of dark chocolate at the end was rewarding. Steely but light tannic dry aftertaste was a pleaser too. Clean. Med light body and med acid. — 4 days ago
Clean gold green color. Medium body. Citrus marmalade with distinct salinity on the nose, flavors of mild oak and aloe alongside fatty fruits and dry floral earth mixed with pleasant bitterness. — a day ago
Light yellow very slight orange, apple, acid, smell is melon and lemon, nice woody ending that comes off as tannins — 2 days ago
