Paul Croses Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2015

Onwards in my wine tasting practice! Grinding away at things I don’t drink enough. I’ve had other Paul Croses offerings so was excited for this and it is in fact lovely and balanced. Lots of yellow apple and pear. A whiff of creamy lees, the perfect amount of acid and alcohol to make it slightly full but infinitely quaffable and...All the same it has an ineffable essence that makes my brain know it is Chardonnay and I rarely am in love with Chard even when balanced. So I have realized with Chardonnay I have to trust my instincts and just get better at nailing down where exactly the Chard comes from. This one is certainly more identifiable than a Chablis, for me. Now to get my hands on some affordable Côtes de Beaune. That about does it for the French Chardonnay I’d be tested on: Chablis, Cote de Beaune, and Macon. Although does Pouilly-fuisse count as Maconnais? It is different certainly but still...anyway if you dig Burg Chard I think you’d like this although it is a more swillable one than say, a Meursault. — 17 days ago

La Maréchaude Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2015

Rich full bodied, needs food accompaniment. Extensive thick legs on appearance. Farm cheese bouquet. Impressive fruit on first taste including pineapple, melon, passion fruit. Great wild honey after taste. Remained interesting and varied (as temperature changed) through to the last sip of the bottle. A star white burgundy. Much under- rated. — 11 days ago

Truly my kind of white. Oily, dry and with a character of its own. Equally suitable w/ & w/o food: Try it w/ monkfish! 2 years celebration, 15/3-2018 — 6 days ago

Tête de Cru Les Perrières Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2012

A fun combo of spice and reductive notes accent the ripe apple and lemon peel fruit notes. Nice precision on the palate with ripe citrus fruit and earthy mineral tones. Just entering a phase we’re it shows complexity. Fun and inviting finish. — 2 days ago

Château Vitallis

Vieilles Vignes Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2015

Typical southern Bourgogne - exotic fruit, sweet honeysuckle and tarte au citron. Yet on the palate this is nicely balanced with juicy, green lemon acidity, some matchstick reduction and a mineral of streak in the finish. Quite complex and elegant - but only after min 1h decanting. — 10 days ago
