Domaine Tempier

Lulu & Lucien Bandol Red Blend 2020

Poured into a decanter about 30min prior to service; enjoyed over the course of several hours alongside the 2017 La Migoua and 2019 La Tourtine. No formal notes. At this juncture, despite being the youngest, the 2020 “Lulu & Lucien” (formerly labeled as their standard Bandol Rouge) is the most open and freshest of the three. Delicious with traditional cassoulet. Definitely something that can be appreciated now through 2035. — 11 days ago

Inmesceo Paso Robles Mourvedre Blend 2022

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

On the nose raspberries, black blueberries, cherries, plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with black cherries, plums, light oak, chocolates, herbs, coffee, licorice, light tobacco, light earth, cola, spices and peppercorn.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 4 year old Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Paso Robles is drinking very nicely now. Elegant and rich. I really enjoyed the nose.

At this point, the Mourvedre is more dominant, and it feels like a California Merlot. Tangy and interesting with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, and ready to drink. I've had the 2023 vintage recently, which I liked better.

A good food wine that paired nicely with my double cream Brie cheese.

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Mourvedre. Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. A tiny production of only 900 bottles.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Château Laroze

Famille Meslin St. Émilion Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2016

2016 vintage. 62% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark red with some orange evolution on the rim. Raspberries and cedar wood , with truffles lurking in the background. Medium-bodied, with slightly jammy red fruit. The tannins are not as velvety as both the 2020 and 2022, but still there is a good balance, complexity and length. Maybe closing down a bit, the future will tell. However, I don't see this ever reaching the level of the 2020 and certainly not 2022. Outperformed by the 2016 Couvent des Jacobins tasted alongside.

Domaine Cabirau

Second Effort Maury Sec Syrah Grenache

Thanks to my brother for this one. Soft and fruity, medium- bodied and delicious. I paired it with grillled pork chops and it really hit. Nice on its own as well. 62% Grenache, 38% Syrah. — 2 months ago

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Vines of Lilian-Ladouys are found a stone's throw from the Graves of Cos d'Estournel and the Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Deep Ruby red color, with inky tones, blend of 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, aged in French oak for 15 months, aromas of black and blue fruit, cedar notes and herb spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with licorice and toasty oak flavors, full body with fine tannins, long finish ending with earthy oak mineral character. Will age over short term. — a year ago
