Opened as a side by side with a 2010 Domaine de Chevalier. This Repris is 50 cab/20 merlot/ 20CF/ 10 Malbec (versus the cab heavy and petit Verdot blend of the DC).

Whereas the 2010 Chevalier has the roasted Bordeaux funk (which I enjoy), this trends more of the brambly/fig profile. Very much in the deep red and black fruit style, this is deeply colored in the glass with roasted plum, fig, cassis, and black-cherry mocha aromatics. The juicy-ness of the Malbec hits immediate on the palate with blackberries and licorice, followed by the weight of the CF/merlot/Cab. Ripe dark red and black fruits, plum, dark cocoa, kiss of green/herbs. Big structure (oak frames it, but isn’t obtrusive) and finish at this stage. Holding strong, but in a good window. Quick 30min decant and follow for a few hours. — 17 days ago

Classic left bank kosę - black current, cassis, cedar wood, a bit of pencils shavings, a gravelly undertone. Fresh, restrained, savoury, pure.
On the palate this has a very nice, smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Present tannins yet so nicely polished & juicy. Good purity of fruit - black currants, blackberries, a bit of plum. Ni e length & depth.
Exactly what I expect from a St Estephe - medium body, savoury tartness with just a touch of fruit and excellent food pairing.

Okay. Again the same dilemma. If a wine does not meet expectation is it basically bad (for me)? 🤔 because in life everything is relative, right? Any thoughts on puzzling matter??The wine was well balanced, dark red fruit flavors, polished, smooth tannins, good intensity and concentration, but limited length and lacking any meaningful complexity… Eight year old left bank Bordeaux. A fourth or fifth growth winery, maybe not, can’t remember for sure. Do remember what I paid though, $120. Definitely too much for what we experienced this evening…. as to our expectations. — 4 months ago

2016 vintage. Cantemerle is always a good idea if you want value for money. Like many left bank Bordeaux in this great vintage, it tends to close down a bit, so give it some time in the glass or decant. The nose slowly develops after an hour, with a mix of black and red fruit, classy cedar notes, and flowers. As usual, it's all about elegance, but it doesn't lack power either. Still needs a few more years to reveal all its complexity, but very good already. Ab. 13%. — 13 days ago

A 5th Growth from the left bank of Bordeaux, driven on 70% Cab Sauv and 30% Merlot. It has the finesse and the style of Pauillac wines. Elegant and quite complex, highly aromatic and has abundance of tannins while shining on the finish. Warm and active!

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Strong nose of black fruits, cedar, spices, chocolates, coffee, licorice, light vanilla and black pepper.

Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, cedar, earth, dark chocolates, licorice, cola, spices, vegetables, herbs and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 17 year old Napa Cabernet Sauvignon feels more like a Left Bank Bordeaux. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Showing great complexity and delicious, but I expected more from this great 2007 vintage. I had the 2001 not too long ago, and it was so much better.

Nicely balanced and good by itself or with food. A good food wine too.

A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

An incredibly beautiful left bank Bordeaux. Needed a while to open in the decanter for smooth and minorly grippy tannins, with notes of pepper, leather, hints of fresh red fruit on the tip of the tongue and with purple fruit on the palate. Lovely. — a year ago

Presented double-blind. The wine pours a slightly translucent garnet with an orange rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of dried and ripe, red and black fruits: brambles, Bing cherry, old wood and old leather bound books, baking chocolate, grated nutmeg, organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ (resolved) tannins and medium+ acidity. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Called Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from France, Bordeaux, Left Bank, Medoc, 1990. LOL…that’s pretty close! For those wondering, the bottle was opened and decanted for sediment several hours prior. For my palate, Duhart-Milon needs decades to become interesting. Fully mature now though, this has at least a decade of enjoyable life left. — 21 days ago

1990 vintage. Excellent fill and halfway saturated cork. Used a Durand but surmise a regular waiter's friend, wielded carefully, could have done the trick with the cork. Decanted and tasted after 30 mins, one hour and two hours. Some obvious sed but not troublesome or overtly noticeable. Original owner-château direct on original release. Super cold cellar because this was lagging noticeably behind other '90's and LB's. Bigger tannic structure (for a generally feminine-styled house) than anything save a Latour, Mouton, Ducru Left Bank property. Even more guts than Lynch-Bages or Pichon-Baron '90's currently stored above 55 or so degrees. Surprising but made sense. Light-medium body. Appropriate color. 3-4 years left in this stage unless larger format in play. Slight, fleeting burst of richness in the frontal palate and a tad brickish and then it just flowed on, without speed bumps. A little cocoa powder and cedar/tobacco. Suspect 750ml specimens not stored as cold/religiously will be showing more in the 9.0-9.1 range and farther down the backside of the bell curve. 10.26.24. — 3 months ago
