It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of cedar, herbs, tobacco leaf, herbs, black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, vanilla, licorice, cloves, mint, black pepper and light earth.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already gorgeous, although still young.
Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining.
The 2016 was a great vintage, and it is showing. This Single Vineyard cabernet will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.

I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it always delivers.
Thank you Barry for sharing this with me.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it beef brisket.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (65% new) French oak barrels for 18 months.
14.7% alcohol by volume

Delicious and gorgeous. Very pale yellow. Originally smells of toasted coconut and honeysuckle but morphs into a lightly buttered and salted popcorn. Tropical flavors with a briney edge. Bone dry, almost puckering. Very happy with this. — 2 years ago
Dark and brooding, the flagship 2017 Lady May from Glenelly is effusive from the first pour, with aromas of black cherry, purple herbs, baking spice and chocolate. The palate is distinctly savoury, with a spicy quality that represents quite a contrast from prior vintages. This is an altogether quite serious offering and perhaps lacks the glossy suave character of, say, the 2015, which I prefer at this stage. But this should be absolutely fantastic in around 5-10 years’ time and I can’t wait to try it again. — a month ago
A tribute to the crest called Rattlesnake Hill, highest point of Monte Rosso Vineyard, famous for rattlesnakes living among the vines, seeking sunshine by day and coiling around the vines at night. Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, tangy herb, pepper and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe cherry with black pepper spice, vanilla and earthy sweet herbs. Soft chewy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy oak. Nice! — 4 months ago

The 2022 Pinot Noir Our Lady of Guadalupe is a hugely promising wine from Dave Phinney's new OLG Our Lady of Guadalupe label. Aromatic, deep and potent, the 2022 has so much going on. Crushed flowers, spice, plum, menthol and licorice all build in the glass. Hints of pomegranate, new leather and blood orange build into deep, resonant finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2024)

Such finesse. Admirably done. — 7 months ago
Light red rasp, red plum, slight spice, cranberry, with lots of acid, mineral and tannin leaving a super dry finish. Great — 2 years ago
