L'esprit De Margaux

Château Palmer

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1983

Medium ruby garnet with quite wide garnet rim . Still quite youthful for age . Aromatic from the off, with red plum , cherry , hedgerow fruit , cigar box , scorched earth , dried flowers . On the palate this is medium bodied , with lots of herbal tinged red fruits , tobacco , grafite, with good volume. Perfectly balanced acidity and suave resolved tannins . Long tobacco edged , red fruit finish . Very detailed and aromatic, no need to decant , really pretty and in a lovely spot though don’t see this improving further, as after about 2 hours this particular bottle starts to fade a little , loosing its aroma and showing a touch of rain water and wet rock hints on the nose, and fading a little on the palate . Drink now and over the next 5 years or so to get the best of this . At Restaurante Fasano , Jardins , São Paulo — 16 hours ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

I was initially scared that I was opening this too soon but it is really in a great spot. Blue fruits and flowers, a bit of graphite, and layered tannins make for an excellent texture. Elegant wine with a luxurious mouthfeel. 73% Cabernet Sauvignon 27% Merlot. — 13 days ago

Château d`issan

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

Deep ruby color. Aromas of blueberries and blackberries, earthy, mushroom and toffee. Overall great flavors of black fruit, cassis and scorched earth. Tasted better after a day open.

Absolutely gorgeous nose of cedar, wood shavings, pine, cigar, cassis and florals, with classic Margaux perfume and extraordinary depth. The palate has really smoothed out since my last bottle, with creamy cassis, unbelievable juiciness, tiny-berry concentration, sweet velvety pointillist tannins and beautiful minerality carrying an enormously long finish. Still structured and angular enough to age, but now far more integrated. One of the great Bordeauxs. — 13 days ago

Château Giscours

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Will always love this wine and vintage, as it is what we selected to serve at my son’s wedding, to go with an excellent beef tenderloin. Dark ruby red, light floral aroma, full bodied and a medium tannins, with a rich, juicy flavor that elevated the beef. Served at Beano’s Cabin in Beaver Creek (although I think we wiped their stock out for@the wedding!). ❤️❤️❤️ — 14 days ago

Château Cantenac Brown

Margaux Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing plums, currants, light wood, earth, spices, coffee, herbs, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, black pepper, pencil lead and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Margaux. Nicely balanced and easy drinking. Fruit forward and elegant.

Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel, spicy and Interesting.

This 10 year old from the great 2016 vintage is still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.

Needed a few hours to open up properly, which I didn't have, and it might have been a bit better with more airtime. Already enjoyable even by itself, and a good food wine too.

A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot. Aged in (60% new) French Oak barrels for 16 months.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$90.

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2005 pours a garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of cassis, black plum, capsicum, tobacco, horse blanket, gravelly earth, and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and elegant. Drink now through 2055. — 2 hours ago

2016 vintage. A decade has allowed this to blossom a bit. Revealing super-subtle complexities now that frequently get lost in appraisals as they posit as fleeting impressions versus unimpeachable, primary truths. Medium body. 8.12.26. — 24 days ago

Cru Bourgeois Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2023

2023 vintage. Medium body. Plenty of tannic punch with dark-fruited counter-balance. $26.50 a bottle resto cost. Would have picked it up but have 6 cheap chicken BDX's I prefer more than this. Not too shabby for the ca$hi$h tho. 7.8.26. — 2 months ago
