The McRae Wood Shiraz 2014

I have never been a fan of Australian Shiraz and much prefer Rhône Shiraz, but this Shiraz is paradigmatic of the Australian style. The wine is fruit-forward and extremely flavorful, beginning with berries and ending with a long finish. If you are looking for a beautiful wine with this kind of fruitiness, this wine is the wine to buy. — 3 days ago

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Very generous contribution by Jim A. 35 years and solid Bordeaux in every manner. Aromatics were bound by nice oak. Palate had complex layers of dark ripe fruit with soft tannins. Elegant rather than powerful. Still has much life left. Such a treat.👍👍🍷🍷 — 18 days ago

Au Bon Climat

La Bauge Au-Dessus Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2008

Last night I had opened the 2008 Au Bon Climat Santa Maria Valley La Bauge Au-Dessus Pinot Noir. I was thinking heavily about Jim Clendenen and thought this would be a nice homage to his work. RIP Jim.

On the nose there is good fruit still cherry, cranberry, raspberry, plum, spice, a muskiness, dried roses, light oak and wet soil.

On the palate even in it's age there is good fruit of cherry, cranberry, raspberry, cola, spice, minerality and forest floor.

This is medium bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel even though the experts have the maturity date as 2018 the acidity is still medium with medium minus fine nearly resolved tannins that still leads to a medium to medium + red fruit candied cherry underbrush finish. Have a continued wonderful weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

The Lodge Hill Clare Valley Riesling

Almost water white with some green. Less racy then other examples. Some lime but no lime cordial. Milder vs the great Clare Valley examples — a month ago

Revana Family Vineyard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Here is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing age much.

Fruity nose with blackberries, blueberries, cherries, figs, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke, earth, cedar, spices, vanilla, licorice, raisins, leather and black pepper.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, cola, coffee, cedar, chocolates, peppercorn, earth, leather, vanilla, licorice and spices.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a gorgeous Napa Cabernet from a great vintage. Showing great complexity and a great mouthfeel.

This 9 year old is drinking very nicely now. Well balanced, tasty and delicious. Smooth and rich.

I had the 2013 a few months ago, and I liked this vintage even better.
Will age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Still has a lot to offer.

Thank you Kim and Barry for sharing this with me.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (1 hour). I used the Vspin to save some time.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
