It has been a long time since I drank something like this. As I have often experienced with aged shiraz color degradation is nil. A powerful nose of plums, blackberries and licorice. In the mouth mostly dark fruit with hints of spice. Definitely not showing age, However not enough acid to stop it from getting “sloppy” at the end. Tannins resolved and alcohol held in check.

20 years in, this is sheer brilliance. Still possesses an excellent fruit profile. Herbs and tobacco are beginning to emerge. Lovely structure on the palette. This example will sail on for years to come.

Mar 7th, 2018Just brilliant. Huge tobacco nose with no signs of maturity. Deftly balanced on the palette, with a wonderful tannic structure. Cinnamon and maraschino cherries bring up the rear. Clearly, not all Aussies are convicts :0)
