Les Monts Fournois Coteaux Champenois Ludes 1er Cru Blanc White Blend 2013

A very rare still Chardonnay from Champagne rock star Bereche and it tastes like...well, flat Champagne, in the best way possible. Raging, mouth puckering acid, creamy and long, candied citrus, baked orchard fruit, pastry crust, marzipan, chalky minerality for days. Acid freaks: come ride the lightning, others need not apply — 2 days ago

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2004

Another good run-in with the dreaded 04' red Burgundy vintage, another wrong guess in a blind. Drank with the 04' Meo Brulees, which I thought was the better wine despite them both overcoming most of the vintage's greenness. This leans more on the rich side, more brooding, but still manages to remain juicy and mineral. Nose was perhaps less interesting than the Meo, and the oak still a little awkward at this stage. Finishes quite tart and long. I think time will bring it more balance. Nice wine, but not the style I prefer. — 17 days ago

"Aux Guettes" Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Very clean and beautiful medium dark red robe. Delicate flowery nose followed by a discrete but balanced and elegant mouth that surprises by the long end and tightness. Its really lovely juice now but lors of potential for in a few years. Highly recommended. — 7 days ago

Les Beaux Regards Brut Blanc De Blancs Champagne 2013

This is a beautiful wine. Lemon, lime, cake bread, cantaloupe nose, limestone - big acid attack but it’s balanced by a full body. Racy but also round - a wine with great balance. The finish is long. My kind of Champagne. — 6 days ago
