Interesting winery. Grenache Syrah blend. Spicy cinnamon and blackberries — 6 months ago
A doppelgänger for top-drawer modern Châteauneuf, the 2018 The Steading from Torbreck is an immaculate Barossa GSM with quite disarming purity. The nose explodes with blueberry, strawberry, liquorice, Turkish delight, lavender and baking spices, a scent which feels luxurious - like stepping into a five star hotel. The palate is extremely supple, sweet like fruit cake on entry but gradually develops in umami, with some smoked bacon and dried cherry. The tannins are almost imperceptible, as is the alcohol - it checks in at 15% but is deftly handled and there’s no sense of heat whatsoever. This isn’t what I was expecting from this wine, a wine I have fond memories of serving to guests in the restaurant I worked in almost ten years ago. It was a perfect match for braised short rib of beef with Port beef jus, which needed a sweeter style of red (I had considered Bordeaux for this evening). This wine was superb, a pleasant surprise and I’m delighted to have bought this year’s release by the case. — 3 years ago

Wonderful, fruit-forward crowd pleaser. — 6 years ago
Had this at Messina Hof. A blend with Mourvedre — 6 years ago
Fresh new haircut and tomorrow’s pies done finally getting into this and it is HIGH FIVE it’s so great. A GSM blend and you can taste all the elements of the different grapes working in harmony. One supporting the other. Like we women are gonna do. If our efforts happen to result in fabulous wine? All the better. — 7 years ago
This Aussie GSM was much richer than most Rhône wines that I’ve enjoyed - more red fruit and compote. Enjoyable albeit not overly complex. — 8 months ago
This was very closed for the first pour and benefited greatly from some time (1hr) to breathe. Once it opened up, it had a liquid smoke hints on a crisp, grassy nose. Tasted of blackberry, black cherry, and cola with along acidic finish. — 4 years ago
Only one bottle of the new vintage- assessing now... Dense purple red, highly extracted pigment. Blackberry with an undercurrent of strawberry jam. Tangerine peel, cherry jam and black pepper flavor, smooth mouthfeel, decent acidity, balanced. Moderate skin astringency in aftertaste. Bold, well made but a tad tannic — 6 years ago
Pizza night. Classic GSM — 7 years ago
Killer domestic value from the Gabilan Mountains of Monterey. Mostly Mourvèdre with Grenache and Syrah. Needs time to open up and unwind. Raspberry coulis, wild strawberry, black and white pepper, and an earthy streak of something feral. Whole cluster fermented in concrete and neutral barrel. Bright, but structure and weight are added with air. Organic. — 5 months ago
Amazing. Light for a GSM. 13.5. Had T-Eve. (Vons) — 7 months ago
A GSM blend from Cris Cherry at Villa Creek, this is what I would call one of his entry-level wines. Doesn’t possess the depth or complexity of some of his other cuvees like High Road or Avenger, but is still really enjoyable and a great value. — 6 years ago

What a PHENOMENAL GSM blend, smells like SB County, tastes like SB County. The spice from the Syrah comes through, the earthiness of the Grenache is 👍🏻 — 6 years ago

Opaque in the dark, ruby in the light.
Soft brambled berrypatch on the nose and palate. Develops into a rich chocolate truffle.
Long finish with electricity to it. — 3 months ago
