From mag. Rich and lush. Lost of zesty lemon zip. Slate and stone and a yellow flower floral notes. A hint of marzipan and a saline note. Punchy and dynamic. Surprisingly approachable give it’s age and the format size. delicious — 10 months ago
The nose is made of lemon, crushed rocks, chalk and there is little touch of juicy pear that pops up after a while and when the wine is warming up slightly. We could add a tiny touch of vanilla from the barrel but it's very discreet. Lovely. This is everything I'm expecting from a 1er cru chablis. The palate is made of a massive acid backbone, almost overwhelming! There is matter to balance it but it's trodding on a very thin edge. Notes of chalk and lemon, and lemon peel are showing all around the way making for a super dynamic, vivid mouthfeel. The finish lasts for ever with this lemony and chalky notes but that vanilla touch that appeared in the rear on the nose makes a discreet comeback in the end and on the sides and that almost reminds me of white burgundies from way down south around meursault and puligny. Awesome, intellectual wine that delivers! — 3 years ago
Lip-smacking and delicious! We had this with some shrimp summer rolls, some salmon, and some Wagyu, and it was wonderful with all of them. We also had a 2012 Roederer and a 2016 Brunello and it wasn’t outclassed. There is a tension in this wine: the freshness of the fruit and the tannins and the acidity and the earthy depth all came through with focused clarity. This was a wine with a dynamic sense of place and personality. Thank you Greg Brewer! — 6 months ago
Lemon, lemon peel, orange, pineaple and a tad of chalk : the nose is quite complex! The palate is very well balanced, crisp and clean with a superb acid backbone, nice touches of lemon an pineaple all along, a vivid and dynamic mouthfeel and a long clean and fresh finish with this citrusy tune which is played all along the backbone. That's great! — 3 years ago
Smells like a forest and nice apples. Flavors are dynamic, spices, sweet marjoram, nice cranberry sauce, and dried cherries. Plus chocolate dusted truffles. Dry, but juicy. The tart, tannins and fruit are nicely balanced. Also a meaty streak. Wow this is bright and lovely stuff. — 4 years ago
What an extraordinary nose. Wild strawberry, violets, cherry pop, plums, mushrooms. This is enchanting and dynamic. On the palate light and subtle. Delicate., quite haunting with a pretty spring sweetness. This is lovely. — 7 months ago

Violet, cherry, a bit of an earthy thing too. As usual this is nice and inviting. The palate is great with a nice cherry note all along and a spicy note, a great acid drive, a nice width with a vivid, dynamic mouthfeel. There is a bit of a tannic feeling, very subtle, in midpalate which disrupts nicely the overall drive of the palate and helps creating a very nice, a little complex, finish with cherry, this spicy note and violet too. This is again great! (but I'm not impartial here 😊) — 4 years ago

Competently made wine, but Leoville Barton is always my least favorite of the Leovilles. Just not very exciting or dynamic. Served with braised short-ribs in a savoy cabbage, with potato Napoleon, confit carrots, and a bitter chocolate jus. The chocolate actually helped the Leoville Barton significantly more than when it was on its own. — 3 months ago
