Don Melchor Puente Alto Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

9.5

Another property I have been.

These normally take some time before showing well. But this 21 was one of the top 10 in the 70 or so I tasted. Showing nicely & quite beautiful. 95-97 aged appropriately.

Le Coste Barolo Nebbiolo 2004

Silky tannins, full-bodied, earthy. Fabulous bouquet. Dark cherries, blackberries, cedar, sweet tobacco, and spice. Smooth satisfying finish. — 2 months ago

Giacomo Borgogno & Figli

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Opened too young; lovely and exceptionally made wine. Brickish red/brown. I let decant for a loooong time. Lots of cranberry and red fruit, some herbs, clay, faint cedar and tobacco. The acidity was med-high, but the tannins really softened out with aeration. I'd say this is still developing flavors and will be 95+ in a decade. — 9 days ago

So syrupy and sweet. Great with banana ice cream. Not my favorite dessert beverage but super complex and interesting through the sweetness. — a month ago

Giacomo Fenocchio

Barolo Nebbiolo 2022

The nose is textbook nebbiolo with cherry, sour cherry, tar, almond, hay, tobacco leaves, black tea and roasted pork shoulder juice 😀. The palate is rather big and bold with a strong acid drive, a dry palate through and through, some impressive width, cherry, tea and that savoury note reminiscent of the pork shoulder juice note I found on the nose. The mouthfeel is first soft and nice, with almost a sweeter touch, before a great tannic walls comes and disrupts the entire feel and triggers a rather long finish with tea, cherry, tobacco touches and again that savoury pork note. It's a lovely, not so complex nebbiolo but really well made and offering pleasure by itself or alongside dinner (we had it along chicken gizzard stew and it worked super well). — 2 months ago

Based on a sample of only this wine I would tend to agree, Jay. I will try to locate other examples now 😁
