Tobacco, leather, black cherry, earth. Very pure and intense. An inkiness and a lucid purity. Really good

Night 1 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. Tasted blind. Very light and transparent in the glass. Light amber color. Great old Barolo nose. Notes of cherries, earth, roses, camphor. While light in color and very translucent, this has a big impact in the mouth. Tons of acidity. Nice structure. Fruit is somewhat faded but still present. Another great performance by this wine. Guessed this as the 61 Monfortino...

This is still quite self contained. Slowly coming out of the glass. Violets, bright cherry, salinity, gorgeous plum. Great definition and light on the elements of the palate. Getting better by the minute. Wow

This is awesome. Very fresh. Iodine, rockpools, dark plum, licorice. This is vibrant, clean and aromatic. Violets, tar, black cherry. This is long, complex and, frankly, amazing. What a bottle. This’ll be a pensioner next year!

Pale with tawny orange and a bit cloudy. A haunting nose. soft dried orange peel, roses, and a lifted menthol note. Very pretty and long.

M’s bday dinner (10/12). Tasted blind. Where are we taken after three straight killer DRC’s?This is a good place. Amber color. Translucent and light in appearance. Tell tale old Italian nose. Notes of dried roses petals, dried red cherries, black truffles, pepper, a little dark earth and a wisp of black tar. Rich and palate coating in the mouth. Complex. For a 58 year old wine, this needed all of its probably 7+ hours of air to deliver another amazing experience. Thankful to have a friend who loaded up on this years ago so we get to check in once a year on it. Reinforced my belief this is my favorite old Barolo. Always delivers for us.

Very pure. Blue fruit. There’s something unexpected on the nose. Herabaceous? Surprisingly young fruit. Defies reason by a couple of decades. Really interesting, sour, and bright. A bit wow.

Orange red, translucent and thin. Nose that screams old Barolo has notes of rose petals, sweet cherry, a little tar. Thin in the mouth at first but this just grew and grew in intensity over the evening. Very aromatic. Comes off as the youngest of the bottles we've had of this. It always has performed amazingly well and tonight that trend continues.

An extraordinarily delicious wine that is at its absolute peak. Dried cherries and subtle hints of red fruit on the palate that quickly gives way to tea and a touch of menthol. The finish lasts forever. This is as good as it gets.

Reddish brown, translucent. Nose of tea, herbs, caramel, and over time dried rose petals. Very round and palate coating in the mouth. Great balance and structure. At age 55 this is still drinking at a great plateau. Maybe a step below a few of the past versions of this but nonetheless it's outstanding.
