La Toppe au Vert Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Strong licorice nose. Cherry quite fruity for Burgundy. Hint of chalk. Cardamom. Mild and ‘smooth’ drink now. Very good. Too nice and not enough edges for me. — 12 days ago

Clos Saint Michel

Cuvée Reserve Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2015

Mousset family has managed Clos Saint Michel for more than 6 decades, in Southern Rhône they have been active in wine for Much longer. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits and sweet spicy notes. On the palate black cherry and ripe blackberry flavors with vanilla and black pepper spice. Big firm tannins, nicely integrated, good balanced, long finish with solid ending. Tasting Sample. — 4 days ago

This is very rich in color and on the palate with notes of blackberry and plum. Slightly tannic with a peppery finish. Very nice after another busy day. — 15 days ago

Domaine Michel Lafarge

Volnay Pinot Noir 2011

Bright, lifted, focused and almost lacey in its feel. Great charm and drinkability and true to place and vintage. Of course the hallmark crisp red fruits followed by a very mineral backbone. There’s lots of sous bois coming through, turned earth, beets, wet leaves, underbrush, forest floor, licorice and flowers. — 4 days ago

Always a great dinner. First course, Butternut Squash Soup. I almost texted Chef Hedy to suggest this dish but, did not! So happy it’s on menu.

The Louis Michel has started to round (in 375ml) out, add some weight and blend so well with the soup.

Round, phat, slightly honeyed citrus surrounded by caramel, buttery, richness with soft allspice seasoning. Incredible!

Chef Hedy has made this before but, she really out did herself tonight with her BSS.

If you live in & around the greater Bay Area, you owe to yourself to attend one of the dinners Hedy holds 4-5 times a year. Not only is the food amongst the very best we had, the people that attend and environment are as equally good. Find Hedy @Plate&Bottle
