2002 vintage. At Hostellerie des Clos in Chablis. Medium ruby hue. On the nose, not much feminine here - dark cherry, Black Forest gateau and a minty note that becomes liquorice with about 45 mins of airing. On the palate, silky smooth, mineral and ripe fine tannins. Great finish but not the complexity of a great '02 from a village in the Cote de Nuits. With air, it dies a bit on the nose and becomes fairly dried fruit in character. Drink now - don't believe it will benefit from further ageing.

Jul 18th, 2017Perfect Volnay. Fond memories of visiting their very "moldy" cellar and meeting Chantal Lafarge. Amazing wine. Smells like a walk through the forest in the fall. Still has some fruit and perfect acidity. Wonderful with our sous-vide duck beast.
