Stunning, lifted nose of violets, blackberry, red fruit, florals and a little barbecue-sauce savoriness, almost Côte-Rôtie-like in perfume. The palate is juicy, elegant and nicely mature, with good texture and freshness, but it lacks the excitement and precision of Sylvain Gauthier’s later wines. Unfortunately, there is also a touch of heat on the finish that I cannot get past. Beautiful aromatics, solid wine, but the palate keeps it at 9.3. — 5 days ago

Nice but perhaps not at the level I was hoping. Quite fruit forward with lots of nice dark fruit with the requisite olive notes etc. Tannins and acid both less than expected. Nice pairing with chicken roasted with feta and olives. — a year ago

A French Pinot Noir, which is interestingly grown in Beaujolais. Begins with a welcome balance of fruit and earth on the nose with raspberry and cranberry along notes of mushroom and black pepper.  These flavors continue onto a very well balanced palate which has an a lively vein of acidity running though it. Clear, medium ruby in color with a hint of garnet on the rim; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary aromas of raspberries, potting soil, and flowers; on the palette, it's dry with high acidity, low tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and medium intensity primary flavors of red currants, sour cherries, and strawberries with a long finish. Painfully young, but that old vine syrah and granite density make it hard to resist. Dark, angry, pure granitic bite on the back half, needs some time, but the ripeness and warming fruit is coaxed out with air. I see a lot of potential here. — 5 years ago
