Adelaida District Grenache Blanc 2019

New vintage of Grenache Blanc. Rich with good acidity, notes of citrus, green apple and toasted nuts with some minerality. Medium+ mouthfeel, zesty & tart lingering finish. — 6 days ago

Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Currant, dried berry, classic Bordeaux nose. Silky mouthfeel and brilliant finish. Tannins take a back seat to this pleasantly long finish. — 12 days ago

Yes. Inexcusable offense of drinking a baby of this magnitude. Now that we’re past that. Every year I drink a bottle of this allocation right away with differing results. The 2016 is INCREDIBLE now! The fruit is accessible, there is tremendous balance, it is mouth coating, the tannins are great throughout, and it goes on forever.
I decanted for 4 hours and sampled pop and pour then about hourly. I did not share with anyone. Don’t tell Melanie when you meet her 😉
Color is inky garnet/purple.
Nose is white flower, blueberry, stone/pencil, and licorice.
In the mouth is blueberry, black raspberry, chocolate, sweet vanilla, and finishes with a touch of pepper (first and second hour more woody oak/cedar). This is amazing. I’m sure it’ll be a 100 someday. 5 bottles left, can I wait that long?
Also wine # 500!

Hey @Deborah M! I did 102 miles on Saturday! That helped me justify this. Just go do a century, no guilt! 😂

@Paul K that’s awesome! I have a century planned in 3 weeks. I will borrow your reasoning.

Reserve Brassica Alba 301 Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Celebrating 6 years of wonderful marriage with my beautiful bride, @Krystal Vento

First time trying anything from this producer, really good. Overshadowed a bit by the intensity of Riverrain but this was quality juice nonetheless.

York Creek Spring Mountain Petite Sirah 2015

So balanced and still can go a number of years. A welcome departure from my recent fare of Napa Cabs. Have missed the subtlety of petite Sirah! — 21 days ago

😳 we’re comparing this and the Spring Mtn cab tonight. Can definitely see the similarities in the fruit, but this is more complex, balanced, and refined for sure. — 4 days ago

Clonakilla

Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2018

Holy smokes! This was phenomenal. I knew there was quite a bit of hype with the 2018 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier on release (96-99 points from the usual suspects), but I didn't think it could live up to it. It sure did though, and I'd even go so far to say that this was the best young Shiraz I've had this year, both southern and northern hemisphere included. The perfume was just plain intoxicating - fresh red cherries, plums, violets, and roses, with a lovely touch of savoury spice, pepper and meat. However, that was just the cherry on the cake because the palate really knocked it out of the park. Super fine texture with tannins that are just made of pure silk. There's serious power and persistence here, all delivered in a precise and elegant package. The flavours are pure and delineated, with a long chalky, acid-driven finish that I absolutely adore. Surely a wine that rewards the patient. One for going deep on. — 24 days ago

Reserve Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

Rich, structured and with nice tertiary flavors as it sits nearly at its peak. There is a bit of off-putting capsicum both on the nose and the finish, however, but it continued lesson over time. Blackberries and currants, tobacco, green bell pepper, cedar and graphite. Medium length on the finish. Tannins not yet fully resolved so a decent amount of life left. A fun wine to find deep in the cellar, but will still never be my style. — a month ago
